So being over 37 up to 100 degrees is not a problem it seems. Even though your body tries at all other times to maintain that 37 degrees through shivering when cold and sweating when hot. Your body does not want to resort to fever but does so if it has to.

If all other methods fail the body creates a high temperature in order to kill the virus with heat while not trying to succumb to the heat itself. This is why doctors become very concerned if you are running a high fever. A mild fever may not be so bad but it still affects the body negatively. There is nothing beyond a high fever other than what doctors can do. If the virus does not kill you the extreme heat your body is creating will. It very much last ditch effort mechanics.

no its a pretty preliminary step dude

can you cite some studies that show fevers only happen as a last resort

If your body goes from 37 C to 100 C you're in trouble alright.

If it preliminary how have many who have contracted Covid not had a fever then?. Any raise in body temperature is unwanted even if it is to fight a virus. A mild fever can become a high fever. A high fever can kill you if you did not know.

There is no other response once you get into a high fever. It either does the job, you die from the virus or the fever kills you instead if it lasts too long due to damaging your internal cells. The high fever is the last resort. Not the mild one. But the mild one can turn into a high one.

Macrophages go around slowly cleaning up trash in the body (scavengers of the innate immune system). If they notice an infection, they signal "rev things up" inducing fever (innate immune system, which turns on quickly via prostaglandins signaling the hypothalamus) and eliciting the adaptive immune system to produce lymphocytes (cells that make antibodies, which is slower to respond to a novel pathogen).

That is a solid explanation I can get behind, but it's not a source of said info.
