so?

lets face it, the bigots were going to hate on her anyway like theyre hating on the basketball team or the female soccer team because of well, racism.

the ultra-progressive types were going to praise her anyway because of yassssss queen slay!

her pulling out, while newsworthy, still doesnt change anything, she is still amazing and dominant and the US still got the gold anyway.

The Olympics are always a big topic of discussion when they come around, mental health is something that has been getting more attention in recent years and it's very rare to have an elite athlete pull out mid-competition without you being able to see them breaking their neck or something, so it adds up to something people are going to talk about. Naomi Osaka was a pretty major topic of discussion for a few days not long ago for similar reasons, minus the Olympic part obviously.

I mean... it's a pretty big deal in athletics/sports for sure. Naomi Osaka dropped out of a major to deal with mental health associated with forced interviews and now Simone Biles has stepped aside in the biggest competition she can be involved in due to mental health.

This is a huge deal since this is not something we've seen in athletics in such a major way. It is a big step forward for mental health advocates and haters are coming out in force because... I dunno, they feel owed something from these athletes?

i think that Osaka was the same kind of thing - if she were sharapova shed not have been criticized as harshly, and many of the Fox News of the world would have made her a victim. Instead we got the typical BRRRRR she be evil but weak stupidity from them
