With these larger screens requires larger and louder sound systems. It's not hard to understand how you would completely disregard a real gunshot for an on-screen one if you have been to a Cinemark XD or IMAX showing. Sound not even being a concern, how would you see a gunshot if you are in a completely different part of the theater? What if the suspect was behind you? Y'all need to go out more or just use your imaginations instead of just saying "nah impossible". You also are not taking into account moviegoers themselves. Maybe they're hard of hearing or old or demented or thought they heard something but chalked it up to the movie. They could literally have been sleeping when the gunshots happened. My wife slept straight through most of 1918 in the movie theater.
