KOS-MOS was a guest character in III but she existed exclusively as a create-a-soul and that game got like zero publicity so she also flew under the radar. The Star Wars characters were like the forefront of SCIV's marketing so they just stood out so much more. Not only were third party characters not realistically considered by the fanbase at the time, people who did speculate them pretty much just saw as far as Sonic. So for not only a third party character to appear in that trailer, but for it to be a character who was largely considered a PlayStation mascot at the time...
