According to the people peddling the vaccines they're super effective and considering the amount of people who have gotten it as well as the amount of people who already had the virus it's pretty much impossible for this to reach the heights they did. I mean I guess it took more than two weeks to flatten the curve like the puppets liked to repeat ad nauseum but at this point it's undeniably been done, unless you're the type who likes constantly being in fear over nothing I guess.

...and what was it a month ago compared to the beginning of the year or this time last year? Tripeling a small number isn't really that impressive.

It's been on a rollercoaster pattern, we'll only know if it'll truly be done if everyone gets vaxxed

Most of the people getting it and getting sick are the unvaxxed which is expected.. but if they continue to spread it and it mutates, that's when it'll become a problem

Oh no, people (who might have already had it, been vaccinated, get tested frequently, and like the vast majority of the population and don't have a high risk of a severe case if they do catch it, etc. for you know) want to actually live their lives, the horror! Things would be so much better of the lock downs had never ended and the government had just printed an infinite amount of money to hand out for free, I'm sure that wouldn't have had any negative effects at all.

I'm at a point where unless it mutates and affects vaccinated people at an even somewhat high rate, I don't give a shit anymore. I'm done.

I didn't see a single friend from March 2020 until early July 2021. I wore a mask starting around May 2020 when they started getting recommended, long before the mask mandate was put in effect in my province (November). Christmas was literally just me and mom with a laptop on Zoom with my brother and sister (they don't live alone so legally they couldn't visit).

I watched conservative assholes in my province ignore the rules since the start. I've known dozens of people that have had COVID, and three people that have died. I don't have a shred of regret for my diligent actions and social sacrifices that I've taken to do my part in reducing the spread of this virus.

But now, the very same people that ignored public health guidelines are also refusing to get vaccinated. Literally the EASIEST thing we've been asked to do, and they won't do it.

Fuck them all. I've stopped wearing a mask as of earlier this week. I've visited with friends multiple times. I will continue to take action to protect myself (like religiously using hand sanitizer), but I'm done sacrificing parts of my life to protect other selfish people that have never done the same. If there is a 4th wave (there will be, and it may already be starting in Alberta), I hope it exclusively hits the antivax people. The rest of us have done our part.

i'm fully vaccinated and while i'm still taking precautions, i feel a lot more comfortable moving through the world and resuming many of my normal activities. if you're not vaccinated when you can be then you're taking your own risk at this point, and a lot of things might not be available to you

I see people out riding their bikes without a soul anywhere near them and they're still wearing a mask, a person that devoted to your religion has almost assuredly gotten the vaccine too. It's actually pretty hilarious that the people who push for the vaccines the most seem to have the least faith in it actually helping aside from the conspiracy theory types. Then when the saints of this new religion, the CDC try to lower the level of fervor by saying the obvious that vaccinated people don't need to wear masks you people turn on them for their heresy of not fanning the flames of fear and panic.

The 7-day average on June 22, 2021 was 11,365. On June 22, 2020, it was 28,329. Yesterday (July 21, 2021), it was 41,310, and given that there were 60,000 new cases yesterday, you can expect that today's 7-day average will be even higher once that data has been collected. On July 21, 2021, that average was 66,406, so proportionately, this is actually a larger spike than was seen then (2.34x then vs 3.63x now), especially considering that that wave peaked around mid-late July (that day's case count was 65,277, and being that close to the 7-day average means the case rate had plateaued) and this one is still climbing. This is consistent with extra-virulent variants running amok and so many unvaccinated people giving up on precautions altogether.

If you went from an average of 1 daily case to an average of 3 daily cases, you might have a point (though even then, using the 7-day average instead of individual days corrects for random variations such that any observed trend is much more likely to be an actual trend, even with such small numbers), but these numbers are much, much too large to explain away that trend by blaming random variation. This is a clear, measurable surge in cases, and it's not slowing down.
