I think its good to set up some blankets in a closet area so it has a place that feels safe

Yeah thats the game plan. I think I can block off some room in my kitchen to set up an area shed like. I went and got some food and flea stuff. I figure if she wants to stick around indoors I wont kick her out

Pretty much. Shes obviously a stray but not quite feral. I just didnt want her/her kittens to get eaten out here by some coyote or fox.

i figure afterwards I can just take her to the shelter or something.

You should probably call your local shelter now for advice.

I took in a stray once who unbeknownst to me was pregnant. Had a litter of six kittens. I kept two of them and found homes mostly though friends and acquaintances for the others.

Mama cat knows what she's doing.
I set up an nice little nursing bed for her which she used.
Though after giving birth she abandoned it and set up shop in the closet.
So make sure she has somewhere safe, quiet, warm, secluded to be.
Make sure her water, food, litter are all nearby.
Make sure she has lots of food, you can probably buy food designed just for mama cats.
Clean up the kittens area regularly, like replacing soiled blankets or towels.
They are born blind but they age up quickly. When they learn to crawl they will crawl everywhere so make sure they are not crawling off a table or bed or something.
You'll become attached to all the kittens. Finding homes for them may be stressful.
Take lots of pictures. I wish I had more.
If you're planning to keep a kitten or two (and the momma cat) there will come a time when momma cat turns her back on the kitten (a kind of 'you are on your own now' tough love). it can be heartwrenching.

More or less how cats became tame. They did it themselves.

If you have a garage keep her in there until after the birth. They prefer the warmth to give birth. Then move them to a closet of some kind but wait about 2 weeks? Mother cats will abandon them if touched right away.

This is actually a myth. While mother cat scan become agitated by human scent, they usually have a different reason for abandoning them
