maybe I noticed this when I was like 12 years old and it just had been SO long in computer years that I completely forgot about it?

It doesn't bother me in the slightest either to be honest, but it seemed on point with the joke to just say that as part of sharing it tbh. Silliness

I more just find it fascinating that it isn't more commonly recognized. That's got a lot more to do with why I bothered to share than the "this bothers me" angle

my default windows cursor doesn't look like that but is even more asymmetrical - the angle on the left looks around 80 degrees, the angle on the right more like 45

I didn't know that it was supposed to look symmetrical (or rather, that people thought it was). I always saw it as being angled in one direction.
