Current Events > PS5 won't let me download FFXIV, even after purchasing it

I bought the complete edition and I am completely unable to download. It looks like it wants to start with the FFXIV online part of it, but it just doesn't start the download for some reason.

i did just get in though, there was a queue of 78 people but it dumped me in literally 30 seconds later so im good

i had to choose the "play ps4 version" to get it to work. better than nothing i suppose, ive been itching for a new MMO for a while

yeah i got it working but you gotta use the ps4 launcher i guess. it still looks fine i suppose but i never had a ps4 so i dont know if the "ps5 upgrade" worked or anything lmfa hahahah

on the real, i just started and this is scratching that MMO itch like no other. sucks that it's subscription based but whatever, im cancelling gamepass so that evens out

unless it turns out 30 days makes me hate the game for some reason

the ps5 controller is basically a little mini mouse though which is super helpful for navigating stuff - been a long ass time since ive played an MMO so all the shit can jump out at you real quick and have you questioning what to click, what to read, etc

the baby starting area is fucking mobbed with people. love to see it

Crowded is an understatement, frankly. The game is being so bombarded with players that not only did the digital copy of the game sell out, but they're even changing their plans from "possibly adding more data centers in 7.0" to "we are adding more data centers ASAP sweet baby jesus". The other day every server was SO full to the point that you couldn't even move between worlds. It's insane, and amazing for the game.

Pro-tip: Focus on the MSQ, don't do side quests unless they have a blue icon with a plus sign on it as these can unlock additional features or content.

I figure the end game stuff is where all the cool things happen. I'm gonna do some side quests early on just to get myself familiarized with everything so I can be moderately fluid.

I saw you said you're doing side quests to get the hang of it and that's cool. Once you have the hang of it though look for the two icons with arrows. The colors will be different though. The first one is the MSQ icon and the second one with an arrow is a quest icon if that quest unlocks something (Dungeon, Jobs, Raids, Equipment dyeing (I think?))

Large exodus from WoW after new updates turned off a chunk of the playerbase, and also one of its biggest streamers was one of them

Shit seems like a mess. Like years ago, I think I downloaded it to try for a few minutes.

I tried getting the free version 2-3 weeks ago on the PS5 and they told me I couldn't play since it was linked to my PSN. Tried everything and gave up.

I tried getting into the game but I got to around lvl 13 and quit. I don't think MMO combat is for me.

So I can log into Mog Station with my Square ID/email, but when I open the trial game on PS5, it automatically puts in a square ID that I don't want to use, and I can't change it... All it does is tell me to link my square ID with playstation and doesn't say how to do it

When I load up the game on PS5, it does not give me the option to put in a square enix ID or email, it just has my username greyed out.

I'm assuming i linked a square account on a ps4 forever ago and it wants me to log into that one?

Yep. That's the issue I faced. It forced me to log in to the one I must have connected to PSN years ago when it was all paid and I tried a trial.

I logged in to play the free version and it said that I can't play because I participated in a free trial. There was no way to log in with a new account.

Having played for two days or so, I think what they meant was more along the lines of "don't go out of your way to do every single one" -- that's kinda the approach I've been taking. If I see a new quest nearby I'll start it, and if I'm in the area where the stuff for a quest is located, I'll do it.

It's not "don't do sidequests", it's "don't do sidequests until you've beaten the MSQ", because of
1)How incredibly long the MSQ and getting to level 80 can take
2)How incredibly good the MSQ is
So doing sidequests is not recommended for those reasons.

There are plenty of sidequests to do with other jobs whenever you want. No need to hurry through MSQ if you are enjoying any of the side content.

Yeah, when I first started during beta, I wasn't sure what was going on because all of these classes weren't what I signed up for. Turned out that you would get jobs later on and they're part of the classic FF stuff so...yeah, conjurer is healer lol. Thaumaturge is your blackmage. The beauty here is that you did not mess up since, unlike WoW, and so many MMOs, you can change your job and play every job per. After all, I started out as a Warrior and now I'm a monk main...

and...meh. I might have to change my main. Monk has been dumbed down so much, it lost some of its flair.

Because 95% of side quests are generic kill/fetch/deliver trash, at least in A Realm Reborn. And you're already going to outlevel the MSQ just by playing the MSQ and sidequests just exacerbate that.
