Definitely agree.

The wall jump in Super Metroid is weird and the grappling hook is awful. Fusion's story is fantastic but there are times where it's really easy to get stuck, much more than in Super. Also Fusion can really difficult at times, and not in a good way. Two times I remember:

The Nightmare boss is hard to begin with, but every time you die you have to spend a afew minutes running back to him because the save rooms don't work. It's awful.

I'm not sure if it would be possible to beat the final boss unless you use a particular strategy where you jump back and forth basically. Maybe if you had all energy tanks, but the game blocks you from going back to other areas when you are in the final area

Zero Mission has none of these issues.

The save station works fine for that boss. https://youtu.be/KscypMKMpuo?t=156

I wonder if maybe you meant a different boss, because there is one part of the game where you can't save right next to a boss

Oh, maybe it was the spider boss

It's the one where you have to save at your ship

For the last boss you can stand right next to it and a lot of the shit can't hit you

Sure, why not?
MZM is structured the opposite of Super: it feels linear but isn't.

The strategy I found online was to screw attack, cancel the screw attack mid-jump, run to the direction you were jumping while charging your attack, turn around and fire, then repeat back and forth. It works very well then the boss' second form is easy. If you don't follow a strategy though you will die, and it sucks because you can't go back and collect more items.

And BTW I technically meant the second-to last boss, the SA-X. The actual final boss isn't that difficult

yeah it's that one. I remember struggling there the first time I played as a kid. If every boss had such a long trail to get back to them, I wouldn't enjoy the game (which is part of why I don't like Hollow Knight), but as a one-time thing, I don't mind it and actually kind of enjoy how stressful it makes the fight feel

Dunno when you played it, but one of the DLCs added an ability which lets you drop a waypoint at a location which you can then teleport to at will.
