I think its because I was also around that age where you started becoming interested in girls and stuff. I remember I ruined that DVD playing it so much

Goblet of Fire is really where it stopped being mystery of the year and became a more serious story about Voldemort and his machinations.

Are you talking about those books where a bunch of teachers at a private school send preteen children to their deaths repeatedly, only for the children to miraculously keep surviving?

No? You have to be an adult in the wizarding world to enter, Harry only got in due to some shenanigans and even then he was a teenager at that point.

The book felt like it was the point where Rowling was popular enough that she could ignore her editors, so the size of the book ballooned and the work suffered. The movie suffered as a result as well, it (and the subsequent two) felt quite rushed having to get through so much material in the same run time.

I'm pretty sure the main characters were all like 13 when the books started...but I guess you're ok with older teenagers being constantly sent to their deaths by adults?

I think Order of the Phoenix is the best book. Shit gets real in that book and Harry is pissed a lot. I like it.

Best book for quite a few reasons, but one thing in particular was the tone shift capturing the sense of both prior whimsy and the rapidly rising undercurrent of darkness, and it was Harry and friends at their most "equipped"; competence with a repertoire of spells, his Firebolt, familiarity with enemy struggles, everyone's rooting for him. Kinda like being fully geared in a Zelda game, except uh oh, turns out this was just the first half.

The whole back half of the series is great, but Half-Blood Prince is the best. Not surprising since it's as much a Tom Riddle book as it is a Harry Potter book.

Bit of both, it was more the transition one. Other than the GoF ending, the series didn't start getting adult until order of the Phoenix

The adults never sent the students to their death except in GoF, Harry and his friends just took it upon themselves.
