It's a 3D game though. The gameplay is 2D. That's like calling Dragon Ball FighterZ or Guilty Gear Strive 2D. No one bitched about them being full price as far as I know.

To answer the topic no, but I guess people are bothered that it's now a standard price game when we previously didn't have recent 2D Metroid's at that price point. People probably made the same complaint about Pokemon SnS.

there's a term for it. 2.5D if I remember correctly. 3D but your character moves on a 2D playfield.

I want to play fusions and metroid 2 and some of the others but Super and 1 seem the be the only ones that ever get ported

I've never got this argument. Surely the quality of the experience, replayability and other things count? When it came out, Metroid Fusion cost the same as Final Fantasy VI Advance, despite the latter being about four times longer. Metroid games have always been short and have always been worth the price.

Other M doesn't exist.

If its anything less than a 200 hour open world romp, some people would never justify the 60 dollar tag.

I would much rather a "2D style" Metroid game over a lifeless empty world game.

MK is 2d by that standard. It's probably going to have more replay value, and a longer campaign than most "3d games" anyways.

Eh, people complained about that too. But I think that one's a bit more understandable since it's just an old game with a graphical overhaul and some QoL changes to modernize it.

I feel like the people complaining about paying full price for a Metroid game never actually played a Metroid game before. They're always short, and Super Metroid at launch was literally more expensive than it is now, even if we don't take inflation into effect.

Metroid games are long enough if use no outside help. I had to look up one thing in samus returns and that boiled down to I had taken like a 2 week break from thr game and kinda forgot what I was doing

2.5d describes your character being primarily within a 2D plane, but being able to interact with 3D elements. Necessarily rendered in 3D, of course.
