My wife and I haven't worn our rings in years. Neither of us were used to wearing rings and we kept taking them off to do stuff and eventually just figured it was easier not to wear them.

My parents never did. They rarely even wore them out - they were secure enough in their relationship that they didn't worry about the other one sneaking around to the point where they needed to wear the ring as "proof" of ownership, and usually they just found it easier not to wear them. They'd mostly only wear them if they were getting dressed up for something and were wearing jewelry in general.

In my father's case, it was mostly because he did a lot of stuff where he was worried about the ring being an issue (ie, fishing, working on cars, gardening, etc), whereas my mom's finger had gotten bigger over time and she just never felt like getting it resized (and she never really wore a lot of jewelry, rings or otherwise). Ironically, my mother eventually had it resized and has worn it more since he died than she did while he was alive.

I've never really been a fan of wearing jewelry either (I have a couple different rings I just never, ever wear), so I can definitely relate.

You're parents really thought of rings that way? What's wrong with them?

I've heard about people's fingers growing skin around the ring or similar medical issues if people leave them on permanently and their fingers end up growing fatter.

It's not a super big deal if it happens but it's probably not a great experience. I only wear mine when I leave the house.

No, that's how -I- think of them.

But my point was more that there are plenty of couples whose immediate response to not wearing your ring is to assume you're planning something, but my parents never really thought that way at all.

The biggest thing with rings for me is I wont bother a girl wearing something on her left ring finger. I'm not prone to flirting with girls really but I see a ring on that finger and I definitely won't.

Most people don't sleep with their rings because the joints can swell up, etc.

My wife always wore her rings. I never wore mine just kept it on me. I hate rings etc on my fingers. Still have them both.

My ring btw has a circle of wolves running around it:)

My dad never wore his as I remember but as a farmer it had a pretty good chance of getting caught in machinery or some other weird accident. Mom always wore hers but it was a small band. She told me she lost the engagement ring years before.

I used to wear mine at night but I don't know how many times I'd roll over and the diamond would scratch my face, usually my chin( no, it isn't a big diamond, just a single one and I suppose a weird style). I quit wearing it altogether when I got it caught on a couple things and damaged it.

I almost never take mine off. Only time I do is when I'm shaving the back of my fingers (they get hairy, ick), if I'm handling something greasy or slippery and it could slide off, certain medical tests, or if I need to get my hand into an extremely tight space where every millimeter counts.

My ring is made of tungsten carbide, which can only be scratched by diamond or a few fairly uncommon man-made materials like cubic boron nitride, so I usually don't bother taking it off when I'm working. I've worn my ring almost constantly for 10 years and it doesn't have even a single scratch on it.

Tungsten is paramagnetic, and tungsten carbide jewelry usually contains a cobalt binder which is ferromagnetic, so I need to remove it in areas with powerful magnetic fields such as around MRI machines.

My typical impression is, yes, they do - but if not, just put it beside their nightstand or whatnot when they go to sleep.

But I was watching That 70's show and kind of started "getting things" or interpreting them, rather, from an episode I'd seen once in the past

Where Eric and them are awoken in the morning or night and the focus is shifted towards the peculiarity of him sleeping nude. The way I saw it if you put that much thought into it, is because if you're sleeping nude, you're more likely to experience sex dreams. And it kind of seemed like Red knew that, and was poking fun at him for it. "Good morning, Mr. Nude". Lol.

Oh, and then Michael is all "OH YEAH" when Donna points out that she also sleeps nude. Riight... >_> see? never looked at things in such manner before, I'm sure there are tons more references I may derive from things unnoticed/differently upon re-watching

Anyway, I figure, if that's what would typically occur sleeping nude, I wonder how sleeping with a wedding ring on affects anything...

No people don't normally sleep with jewelry on. I'm sure some do, but I don't believe it to be normal.
