The first Broadway musical done by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) finally came out in theaters and HBO Max today. Saw it this morning and I thought it was really great, especially the cast and choreography, despite it having some changes I'm not fond of/miss having from the original. What do others think?

Yeah we were surprised to see that the head of the department got the go ahead for it. It was really cool to see. I should've auditioned for it but I was too chicken lol.

I plan on checking out the movie to see how it compares.

Watching it tomorrow! Ive never been a huge fan of musicals but recently watching Les Mis and The Greatest Showman got me on board with em.

I've been making Lin topics and Ham topics for a while but this userbase hasn't really seemed interested. I simply adore Hamilton, caught a showing over 2 years ago and been in love ever since.

I hope In the Heights is good too, never got the chance to see it live.

You actually saw Hamilton? Lucky dog, I think those tickets are still really expensive, aren't they? Best I got was the recording on Disney+ lol.

Yeah I caught the West End production with a friend in London, and those tickets are actually double the price of USA, but I didn't mind because it was the greatest theater experience of my life and easily the highlight of my trip.

It's nice that they released the recording due to the pandemic, though it's probably obvious that the recording doesn't really do the experience justice. I think the original intention was to actually make a movie adaptation just like In the Heights, not just a recording of the first performance.

Jesus lol. I do wonder why they're still so expensive even now. Especially for someone like me who lives nowhere near New York so there'd be travel involved, too. I don't think the tour prices are that much better, but eh. Then you get Hadestown which starts around $50 and goes to just over $100 for the best seats.

Let us know how you like it! What was her favorite song? Inutil? Sunrise? Them removing Inutil hit me pretty hard, especially when there's a perfect moment and reasoning for it.
