Street Fighter V was my first Street Fighter since II and going from that to IV I forgot which one was supposed to be the sequel to which.

IV feels SO much tighter and lighter and faster. It might be my favorite fighting game of all time from a pure gameplay perspective.

The V Trigger and V Skill is a mostly "Make it or break it" thing for characters. I don't play the game, but from what I've seen, Gil is mostly considered a poor character due to his average or less than stellar V Triggers (I and II, respectively). In constract, a character similar to Gil, Urien, performs MUCH better due to his insane V Triggers (more specifically, Aegis Reflector).

Of course, it is not just the V-System in general, but it goes a long way in Street Fighter V, since the game revolves around that.

Another example I've heard is Kolin vs Sagat. Kolin has a hard time against Sagat, I think it is due to his fast projectiles, and he has a punish against one of Kolin's get in moves, however, the dynamic of the match changes drastically as soon as Kolin ACTIVATES her V-Trigger (which I think it's V-Trigger II, it's the skating one). Note that I didn't say as soon as Kolin LANDS the V-Trigger, of course if she lands its better, but just by merely activating it, that's enough to change the match to her favor.

So, one of the reasons the game could be disliked its the heavy focus on the V-System and how powerful it can be for some characters.

Once more, I don't play Street Fighter V, but I've seen and heard quite a few things in between streams of pro players and tournaments.

Every match looks and feels like a basic flowchart, even with all the changes they've made. No way to put your own twist on styling an opponent, no gains from depth of mechanical knowledge. I don't mind them trying to make the game less hard, in the sense of people being able to execute without difficulty, but in that pursuit they lost so much.

In the simplest terms, there are less problems to solve, and less solutions to those problems.

Everyone feels so nimble and the moves have clear and crisp impacts, where in SFV they all feel heavy and the hits dont really feel like they connect that much.

I bought Ultra just because its the final version and has everything, but they let you choose which character build from which version you want to use if thats what you mean.

But yeah playing SFV for a few hours and then playing SFIV was like going from driving a forklift through mud to driving a Porsche around a new empty parking lot.

Holy shit dude, let me tell you about a game called Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Fight for the Future..

I the Online Edition of that for PS3. Its solid, I just wish it had the good characters.

I like a lot of the new characters just fine, but the Street Fighter II characters are as necessary and important as the Mortal Kombat 1-3 characters. Im glad they all came back for IV.

Street Fighter 2 was heavily competitive before the Internet was widespread.

The difference between then and now is that, with access to information, the average skill level has shot through the roof. You can no longer escape needing to git gud.
