Spoilers for the new Yuffie DLC. There's some pretty major stuff in here so you've been warned.

I will post a video of the ending below but here is a summary of the most important stuff. Yuffie's partner, Sonon, is killed by Nero and she escapes Deepground only to see the Sector 7 Plate fall. For those of you who don't know, Deepground is a secret military organization that appears in Dirge of Cerberus. Nero is an antagonist in Dirge of Cerberus. Afterwards, she escapes Midgar. Cloud and the party end up catching a ride from Choco Bill in order to get to Kalm. Finally, Zack ends up visiting the church in the Sector 5 slums expecting to find Aerith but she's not there. Now, this does not confirm that Zack is in the current timeline with Cloud and everyone else. For starters, Zack has the Buster Sword with him when he goes to the church. Also, Sector 7 appears to be still intact when Zack tries to find Aerith but it should be destroyed at this point assuming Aerith has gone to pursue Sephiroth at the end of Part 1. We will have to wait and see what happens. I'll personally be a little disappointed if Zack is alive in the current timeline but it's whatever.

This is everything I've gathered so far from what I've read online. I will be playing the DLC tomorrow myself but yeah. That's it.

I really don't get the point of turning this into a soft reboot psuedo-sequel instead of just doing a complete franchise reboot. The point of remakes is generally to not need to deal with playing through the previous version for proper context.

The project is being managed by that Kingdom Hearts douchebag. He has no ability to tell concise stories, it's all ever-expanding masturbatory complexity for the sake of complexity. It sucks that literally anybody else on the planet couldn't have been in charge of remaking FF7.

Except you're wrong. Nomura wanted an exact 1:1 remake of the original PS1 game. Kitase and Nojima wanted to completely change everything. Remember, Kitase thinks the proposed plot for FFX-3 is something people want to see and pushed for that god awful audio drama. Kitase is the actual fuckhead here and should be fired into the sun.

Putting in the building blocks for stuff like DoC and all that is fine. The retcon ghosts and the timeline changes that require knowledge of the original to contextualize, not so much.

Again, Nomura wanted a 1:1 remake of the original. Kitase wanted the game to be drastically different and Nomura fought with him to keep it as close to the original as possible. Now that Nomura has taken himself off the project it's going to get even worse.

People just hate KH so much that they just blame Nomura for everything. Also again, Kitase thinks that people want to see a game where Tidus blows his head off with a blitzball bomb.

Funny story. In the OG FF7 the Whispers were in the original draft of the story, but they ended up being cut.

Tidus kicks a bomb buried in sand thinking it was a blitzball. He then loses his hand.

Then Yuna has sexy time with him.

This was the details I was wanting after hearing it initially. This is like the second time they deliberately put inconsistencies when showing Zack and whoever else that should've died...alive. Which seems to tell me that it's supposed to be an alternate timeline. The idea I had in mind that we'd be following Zack in a parallel timeline sounds more and more realistic, honestly.

Though...Sephiroth fucking things up and the Whispers being defeated causing temporal inconsistencies also seems like a plausible explanation too...

Because the first game in the series is actually a remake of a portion of the original game. I wouldn't be surprised if the future parts have different subtitles instead of "Remake," like other R words. Or they may turn it into "Final Fantasy VII R: *insert subtitle*"

What really gets me is when people say "It's a Remake so it doesn't need to be the same!" So why not just make a brand new game with brand new characters and call it FF7 then? It's a Remake so the characters don't need to be the same either. I would actually like Remake more if it had a whole brand new set of characters instead tbh.

While Cloud and the party progress through their timeline, we may get small snippets of whatever is happening in Zacks alternate timeline which Im fine with honestly.

I'm fine with whatever they're doing so far. The Intermission ending was more of the same that was already established. I don't want to see a carbon copy of the same basics of the original's story.
