GameFAQs has been around for a long time, and we've seen many changes throughout the years. Do you remember why you joined in the first place?

I joined when I was playing Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout on the PS1, Harvest Moon: Back To Nature on the PS1 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the PS1.

I heard a rumor about unlocking Gogeta in DBGT: Final Bout that turned out to be false, and I was so pissed off for falling for it that I created an account just to warn others when they asking about it on the board, lol.

I was lurking long before I had an account, but since I finally had one, I started contributing to the Harvest Moon: BTN board as a thanks for receiving so much info when lurking.

Guess I just gradually discovered more boards after that, and my activity changed as my life changed lol. I remember when board invasions were a thing, LUE was hot and the War on Terror board becoming a dumpster fire with 9/11 topics.

I used Gamewinners to get Yugioh card codes for my GBA game, and on gamewinners they had a lot of links to gamefaqs so I eventually just started going straight to the source. I didn't create an account though until that E3 trailer for what would eventually become Twilight Princess came out and then I wanted to get in on the discussion

I used the walkthroughs and stuff before joining in 2001-ish. My first username had a space in it and was words in the made-up space language I invented because I was a tween.

I joined CE in 9th grade to make friends and because I was procrastinating on a school paper that was supposed to be about a current event. The Internet was young enough back then that I could almost get my mom to believe I was on a news feed when she questioned me.

A few years later a friend of mine showed me CE (specifically a post about someone who was an expert dirt grader) and I favorited the board but forgot.
For a few years imgur was my daily lurk, but once they killed mobile web browsing features to force users to the app I came back to GameFAQS.

I started using it for guides and cheats back in middle school (god it's been nearly 20 years). I don't specifically remember when I joined the message boards, but I'd assume it was whenever I discovered the sports boards and wanted to talk basketball.
