Pro tip: buy the mount speed upgrade for 25 clusters ASAP (not sure when it becomes available; it wasnt in the cluster shop when I first got there, but was there after I did the tank 18 quest. Its different from the Southern Front riding map, which will already be present).

Zadnor is significantly better than the Southern Front was, both in gameplay and in story. Map is way too damn big, and CEs could stand to pop a bit more often, but most of the CEs are pretty great, some are obnoxious, and one is Belias (aka the fucking worst). Seriously, if you get Belias, bring Reflect. You're going to need it. The Castrum equivalent is insanely cool with a sick final boss. The skirmishes are mostly the same, though I've yet to encounter a horrific one like the Saurtevoir + Colossus one was in Southern Front.

The story is... eh, it's not quite to the level of "good for FF14," but it's a lightyear better than everything else in Bozja. Certain characters finally get the spotlight they deserve. Others finally grow a personality. Not everything is abject misery porn for once.

They also haven't fixed lockboxes at all, so enjoy all the indigo stars and random corsages.

did my first dungeon and got a bunch of player commendations I guess I tanked well. Didn't know what was up with the loot system though or how I could give other players commendations

If you can need, you need. If not, you greed. Simple as that. The game won't let you need on stuff that isn't for you.

You commend at the end of the duty. "player commendation" appears in the lower right of the screen by default. If everyone leaves quickly though, it disappears.

Also just in case you don't know since I don't think the game does a great job with explaining this on controller, you can tab between everything selectable on screen by tapping the touch pad. That's the best way to get to the loot and player commendation options.

If you have someone you really wanna commend, make sure to do that first!

Truthfully I didn't pay attention much to what the other 3 were doing I just went in and aggro the enemies and eventually they took care of them.

I guess I could commend the healer for keeping me alive!

When I'm Tanking I basically always commend the Healer and vice versa, unless the respective player was, like, TOTAL shit. If they're a sprout I will commend them even if they're bad because hey everyone's gotta learn, not like I can Tank worth shit.

It would take a lot for me to maliciously commend a DPS out of spite, lol.

Of course there are exception like what happened to me a few days ago where, yeah, my Samurai did deserve to receive almost every commendation in the party. But a 'last man standing" win is gonna be the Tank anyways 99% of the time so it's rarely a thing.

My commendation order is generally:
Anyone who doesn't know what they're doing but still trying > Friendly chatty people > To the other DPS as DPS gets so little commendation love

The latter 3 are whatever because who the fuck logs out mid duty, but Rhalgar's Reach is a big deal. Even ignoring MSQ progression, people go there for level 70 poetics all the time.

You know I say that, but I did have the game crash on me doing Cape Westwind last night so I could see the game closing mid-Duty for one of those being an issue.

Also, there is no Duty more stupid to have your game crash on than Cape Westwind.

I just took a look at those shiny new weapons and the disparity in quality between jobs is ridiculous

Bard, Paladin, and White Mage look phenomenal, Dark Knight, Warrior, and Samurai's look like absolute crap. Everything else is in between.

Not Bard though, Bard weapons always slap. AST too.

Im mostly annoyed that you cant get the 500 replicas until you get the 515 relic (and the 515 step is ultra-annoying); kinda regret upgrading some of my weapons to worse looking 510 ones!

The final step actually looks less annoying that the 515 step, thankfully.

i knocked out the final step in about 3-4 hours, just doing random zaldriadas - boring is the right word.

I'm glad most of the worst steps were one time only. honestly, the only thing stopping me from just getting all the weapons is the timeworn artifact step.

Minions are pretty cheap and otherwise hard to come by, especially the 24-man ones. Emotes are good too unless you plan to do a lot of HoH and/or become a Eureka monster like Dante and me.

Oh, yeah, got the minions those were dirt cheap, and I already had Ramza and OMG (assumingly because most people already had them I got both first try). I'll go for the emotes next. Just wanted to make sure none of those housing items were rare, will probably spend everything I earn after that on MGP.

OMG isnt that bad to get legitimately, but you got lucky with Ramza. Youre definitely typically rolling against at least half of the raid for that one.

Minion rolling I have generally had great rolling, though I did get an 89 on the Weeping City minion today and still lost (first time I had ever seen Weeping City in roulettes, was starting to think it just wasn't there for some reason!)

I basically never win card rolls even when I Need all 3 copies.

No, the squadron buffs and the GC buffs are essentially the same buff so only the better one will apply.

The squadron one is better than Heat of Battle 2 though, and most FCs don't tend to have HOB3 up all the time.

As soon as I saw that the next story quest after that first dungeon was another dungeon I pretty much just stopped completely and have played nothing but Nocturne HD since. Maybe get the plat in that soon @_@

Looking back a few days to commendation priority:

(As healer:) cohealer, impressive DPS judgment (no vulnerability stacks on a long fight, backup RezMage/SMN if party is struggling,) tank that does well on non-braindead fights with Reprisal/nonpersonal defense >>> floortanks that appear to be trying >>> selfish tank > most other DPS > cohealer if they're being a red SCH/AST > no commendation > that one DPS that keeps blowing a limit break during a bad time during third pull (i.e. blowing it on Nabriales before the rift phase.) After that dreaded scale is "Rescue into a death and leave them on the ground."

(As tank:) Cotank if they were properly doing things, ranged DPS that dodged mechanics, healers >>> everything else.

(As melee DPS:) Tanks that stand still so I can position > DPS that use party buffs > competent healers >>> everything else >>> tanks that multi classed into Dancer.

(As range DPS:) DRG/DNC that targeted me > everyone else.

(As caster:) Tanks > everyone else.

I always try to commend DPS these days, provided they aren't giving me a reason not to. Healers (and to a lesser extent tanks) get enough undeserved lazy commendations as it is.

I commend DPS if I have a parser up and I can see that they've done their job well-enough. Not expecting the world from the average player, but every now and then you get someone who reeeally doesn't deserve a commendation.

Pretty much the only content I do these days that involves commendations is expert roulette. When I play tank, if there's a DPS who consistently did more damage than I did the entire time they get my commendation.

It is depressing how rarely I give out commendations these days.
