Might not be branded as DKC6, but essentially that's what it will be. But, since Retro is making Metroid Prime, it's being developed by the same team that did Super Mario Odyssey.

We'll find out for sure at E3 next month.

Imagine it not being Zelda this year. They're making a direct sequel seemingly with the same engine and its still been over 4 years. Even Twilight Princess released faster, and that game was delayed like 3 times.

despite being so acclaimed Zelda historically doesnt make Nintendo a ton of money compared to other series. Same with Metroid.

Nintendo has a hard time developing these big hd games to begin with. I mean, when you look at the Switch's library it is mostly ports with maybe 4 original first or second party developed games a year and some.of them are 2d platformers at that. If Nintendo couldn't port Wii U or Wii games they would be in trouble

I predict that Zelda will be released at the end of the consoles lifecycle like TP and BOTW and Metroid may never see the light of day.

The games also have higher budgets and longer development periods. Sales are good (though I believe it's a pretty distant third if we're counting the various Mario/Pokemon spinoffs and not just main series games), but they're being measured against higher expenses.
