Took probably like six or seven tries with the same setup, but I managed to beat XIVs 280 torment with Alphinaud and Thancred mostly just sitting around and existing as XIV characters

Cant get anywhere on Isgebind for magicite (his aoe just completely murders me) and I dont have a team for any other element

Did you do the dreams? If you have enough rubies you can get the fire/earth monk skill for Yda and she can be used against Hydra as well.

Dream selects are tomorrow! Wow so early since the last one closed last week. Probably will get Papalymo to finally kill 14 Bahamut.

No, it will not. Her sync entry and commands will remain fire/non element. She can certainly still damage Hydra because her Sync entry and commands have a non-elemental component (most SBs do), so I suppose you could throw her into the fight and see how she performs before you decide whether Meditative Palm is a worthwhile investment. (Personally, I don't expect that it will be.)

If you use the sync the command 1 will still hit non fire/elemental but it will still give her a cap break on meditative palm, and she can dualcast it with her LM2.

Her Awakening is probably better for it since it's dualcast monk but in 3/4 magicite you can make her work in Fire/Earth/Ice/Lightning with the monk skills with the sync.

Also make sure to get lots of greens in the Black Chocobo event, you can get Warrior of Light's chain and USB there. And lots of orbs and motes!

Looks like I can fake my way through at least the first few of these event fights with a holy RW. I got Holy Fang for Cecil off of an elemental ticket and I guess I can farm a couple of 6* WoL relics off of this event, so maybe Ill actually make a holy team

Mog AASB2 provides a +Atk/Def/Mag/Res buff that cancels out the Dreambreaker/Dragonking debuff. And since it doesn't deal any damage, Dragonking Bahamut won't reapply the debuff as a counter, like he will against Tyro. So, that one. "Dance as One", provided by the Fairy Flute.

I don't care what anyone says especially if they have Mog Awakening 2 and/or Papalymo sync this was one of the hardest and most frustrating fights I've ever done in the game! Fuck phase 2! Fuck the confuse! Fuck the memory bites! Fuck the spheres!

No but Japan had it in their 100 mythril Awakening select next fest. Hopefully Dena doesn't remove it because the FF6 event it debuted in was a little late on schedule.

This dream select is better than I thought. There are some new options for the sync including Red XIII, Zidane, and Tidus 2, which are great ATB syncs I didn't think would be on there until next time. Rydia's water sync is on there too for anyone who hasn't beaten Ifrit yet. I think I'll probably grab Red's for the first Labyrinth, but the other three are all tempting for Dragonking and favoritism (especially Zidane and Rydia)

I think it's not THAT different from then. AASBs are still the workhorses along with Syncs which are kind of like a cross between AASBs and Bursts - like awakenings they give you one level of damage cap break, and like bursts they give you commands, but the commands also link to your abilities so instead of doublecast you get sync command + ability. There will be lots of high end content for you to catch up on though since there is 5* Magicite, Dark Odin, 6* Magicite, and Holy Odin for elements, and there is Dreambreaker (basically Torment 3.0) and now we're starting Dragon king battles for realm teams.

And yeah it's gonna be really tricky picking a sync, there's so many good ones! Vincent, Zidane, Tidus 2 and Gladiolus are what I'm eyeing. Though most likely Gladiolus for Labyrinth and FF15 Bahamut.

There are basically two sets of challenging content, elemental-themed (Magicite) and realm-themed (Cardia). Elemental themed are up to 6*, with superbosses at 5* and 6* also. Realm themed have Dream, Torment, Dreambreaker, and Dragonking.

The chief gimmick, which you will encounter in all content 5* and up (including Dreambreaker/Dragonking) is Savage Mode. Bosses will enter Savage Mode at certain non-random turn and HP% markers, and it gives them passive buffs, primarily damage reduction but often offense too. If an attack deals at least 10,000 damage in a single hit, it will reduce Savage Mode by 1. (So a Chain Firaga that deals 7000x4 does not affect Savage, while a Chain Firaga that deals 11000x4 will reduce Savage once. Note that doublecasts, chases, and suchlike do count as separate attacks for this purpose.) Since most damage is capped at 9999, SBs that grant you "Cap Break Lv1" (+10k max damage) are essential. Fortunately, that's standard for Awakenings and Syncs.

Side note: 5* Magicite can only reach Savage Mode Lv1 and often have drawbacks while they're there (stuff like "attack twice as often, but only deal 80% as much damage per hit".) Depending on your party and the boss, you may even prefer to _avoid_ knocking them out of Savage! Everything after them can stack Savage Mode up to lv3, and there is no silver lining.

Aside from that. 5* Magicite have Physical and Magical bosses for each element, the "wrong" type deals greatly reduced damage. 6* Magicite just has you pick "Physical Effective" or "Magic Effective" (clearing both does get you a second set of prizes). 6* Magicite also apply a damage penalty, and usually other punishment, to characters without the proper En-Element, while simultaneously removing/degrading En-Element multiple times per battle. Fortunately most Glints allow you to stack En-Element, and Syncs usually give you En-Element lv3 right away... but multi-element characters like Bartz were originally out of luck, which was presumably intentional.

Dreambreakers/Dragonking dungeons want you to clear them with a full-realm party, although the penalty for bringing one off-realm healer/support character is not prohibitive. Their chief gimmick is a full-party Atk/Def/Mag/Res debuff; if you don't have one of the SBs which can counter that debuff (released on banners alongside the Dreambreaker, naturally) you'll need to stack enough buffs that your offense can muscle through it. Offensive White Mages, being Mnd-based, also circumvent the debuff.

Additionally, Tyro's once-joke OSB happens to counter the Dreambreaker debuff, which is why they made Dragonking bosses counter damaging Soul Breaks by off-realm characters (see: Tyro OSB) by reapplying the debuff.

Hmm... What else? There's a "Record Laboratory" which lets you purchase relics you do not have with in-game currency ("Anima Lenses", awarded from clearing fights and as a compensation prize for duplicate relics); nothing top-tier or recently released, of course, but that doesn't mean nothing useful. You can pick up some En-Element SBs to use against 6* Magicite, for example, or bring an in-realm healer up to competent for Dreambreaker purposes. The "Artifact Acropolis" lets you trade Artifact Stones for first-rate weapons, too (even 7* relics are inferior to maxed artifacts statwise, IIRC); upgrade Artifacts with Rainbow Crystals, which you get by mulching all your junk Relics. Record Spheres are up to 6*, and one of the things you can unlock on the 6* "Record Board" is a character's Hero Ability, a powerful ability which only that specific character can use; all of them are strong (although some are stronger than others), and it's nice to have things like a Fir/Wtr/Lit ninja trick for Edge or a Holy Black Magic skill for Hope. Several Hero Abilities innately break the damage cap, too, which helps with Savage Mode. *shakes fist*

Core/Beyond torment and Dreambreaker are tomorrow as well as the banner. Anyone got plans for them yet? Torment shouldn't be too bad since I have Dr. Mog Awakening and Emma Kros and Wedge ultras. Dreambreaker is a big no though since Shadowsmith is anti mage but the banner doesn't look that good outside of Wedge.

Oh apparently my Yda + Ramza can carry a group of three level 1 in-realm characters through 260 Cardia. Glad I figured that out before the FF2 rewards cycled out!

So one problem I can't seem to figure out is that it seems like I really need three Mako Might equivalents, but of course I only have two which I'm using for Yda and Ramza. Typically that means, however, that I can't get Deuce up to two bars by the time I need to aoe heal. What's the best way around this?

Yda doesn't need a mako might, you can put Gathering Storm or a damage boosting RM on her (Tyro's level 99 weakness damage or Monk Damage would be best)

Just use 6* monk abilities on Yda to build meter, she can do good damage with just the record materia. Don't use wrath on Yda since that overwrites shout.

And yes get the glint+! You can't use RW in Magicite or Torment so it's going to be more useful in the long run when shout is obsolete. Besides using Edward Awakening RW is better because it lets you kill event bosses before they can even attack if you're fast enough.

100 gem'd Wedge's new Legend Materia!

I also did the Glint dream select, I got Cid Raines Awakening from the grab bag! (the one without dualcast.)

Core 450 Torment beaten with a sub20 despite a bleh team of Wedge, Enna, Elarra, Edward and Dr. Mog. Getting the Beyond Missions is gonna be tricky though.

Oh you have Alphinaud's dyad? That's pretty good. Did you make Dark Valefor for him? You could break cap easily with him with that.

You'll want to get Grind to Dust for Thancred as well.

Got a win on the torment with 3 beyond characters, still a sub 30 despite only a usb for Lann and AOSB for Rain.



All 5 done, now I can bench these losers.

Anyway, I finally cleared Isgebind and got 47% on Mateus. Not too thrilled to see that I need both a physical and magical team for each element, though...!

Bleh

Sub-30'd the torment pretty easily with Tyro, Elarra, Wedge, Biggs, Rain. Shouldn't be that much harder to do it with 3 Beyond characters, even though I'm really not sure which of those other Beyond losers I want to run.

DB Shadowsmith, on the other hand, will be a major problem with Rain AASB being my only cap-break relic. I could get Biggs HA to help somewhat with rage-breaking, but I still don't imagine it would be enough.

Historia Crystals are better until you get 6* magicite, well assuming you have a mostly same realm team together (10 for water, 6 for fire, Tactics for Holy) Magicite is better when you get to the physical/special split and the teams become more hodgepodgey in realm.

That boosts magicite stats and it lets them gain passive traits from other magicite. It will lessen the gap between magicite and historia crystals.

Oh also forgot to mention it's easier to level up magicite compared to historia crystals as well. Also did you get the magicite from the Acolyte books yet?

That's good. Did you also fully 5* dive Alphinaud? He can help in all the magic vulnerable *5 magicite with his dyad since there's a summon for each element (besides bio) and his LM2 is dualcast summon.
