Board 8 > At what price would you consider selling a favorite possession/collectible?

Specifically wondering about video games and trading cards but we can extend the question to other collectibles I guess.

Basically if you have a favorite thing that you know is worth something, what is the lowest $ amount that would get you to consider putting forth the effort to sell it?

Obviously there are a lot of factors like financial situation and percentage difference in value but generally what do you think that number would be?

I almost always buy things to keep but ya know...things can change

It really depends how much the item is worth

Something like Path of Radiance I wouldn't sell, because it's only worth like 100 bucks?

My Fantastic Four 48 on the other hand? Yeah I'd sell it, especially if I could get over 1000 bucks for it.

I have a Freddy Krueger glove signed by Heather Langenkamp, and I'd need at least $5,000 to get rid of it even though it's worth a lot less. It's the centerpiece of my growing horror collection and Nancy is my favorite final girl.

$5000 was the amount that popped into my head too. definitely don't have and probably will never have a collectible worth that much though and in reality my lowest price would be a lot lower.

PoR was one of the things i had in mind since it's something i actually have lol. and yeah this was my thought as well. if it's only like $100-200 i don't see myself selling a game i like a lot.

I've got a PSA 8 base set Blastoise worth about $400 right now, but I'd probably have to get $5,000+ to actually sell it, it's got too much sentimental value for me.

That's a good question. I'm not especially attached to physical doodads... I'd be happy to get the apartment space back, to be honest

But there's some hobby stuff I've painted that would be a little hard to let go of. If the person was guaranteed to show up at a specific time and get it out of my apartment for me... I'd let it go for $200

The key thing is that i don't want to have to deal with packing/mailing

If i had to pack, mail, organize actual buyers, deal with flakes, etc... it'd have to be at least $900
