Have you ever considered that maybe having a couple drinks might give you the courage to go outside and actually interact with a real life woman instead of just making 100,000 pathetic topics about them on the internet?

Alcohol is bad

Why are you like this? You seem to be mostly chill as fuck on most subjects and even when it comes to things like alcohol that you don't personally enjoy, you seem to normally like fine with the preferences of other people so as they don't push their beliefs, but you're like super hostile about drinking and I've always noticed it but I never grilled you about it because you and I have always been cool, but I'm shaking my head right now. I feel like I have to ask. What is it that have so strongly against alcohol? Like... is it a personal family issue or something? Like I'm not one to pry... you can just say "it's personal" and leave it at that and I won't ask further because I don't want cross any lines, but you seem so casual about how you converse in general on CE but it's like you have this chip on your shoulder about alcohol and you just get hostile when you bring it up and that makes me raise an eyebrow, like... I don't get it and I want to know more if possible...

I hate drunk drivers, i hate how alcohol(and other drugs of course but dis one is literally legal) can change nice friendly people into a dumb hostile drunk, i hate how alcohol is used as a way to forget about deir problems because dey are too cowardly face dem head on and most of da times dey are made worse with it. Da world would be a million times better off if alcohol didn't exist tbh

One thing I've been spending some time contemplating is the butterfly effect of drinking, not just the huge things like fatal accidents, domestic situations, or arrests, that kind of stuff that rightfully takes focus. I'm talking about the maybe inappropriate comments by someone who is buzzed enough to have their inhibition lowered, getting short with someone who may not deserve it because you have a hangover, getting in someone's face with vapor breath, or lost time/money/energy spent looking for keys or phones or wallets the next morning.

There is no shortage of ways, big and small, to put alcohol fueled negativity and disruption out in the world. When you consider alllll the times people get drunk and alllll these seemingly trivial events, you have to think that it adds up to something meaningful overall, right? I'd honestly love to see this entire web of these comparatively minor alcohol-fueled interactions and know the exact balance of scales on that tbh.

The way the majority of CE drinks is tame as fuck, the drinking general regulars actually drink.

I'm doing a dry month right now

I don't drink that much anyway, but I just thought it'd be good thing to do. there have been a couple instances where I thought "a cold beer would really hit the spot right about now" but nothing major

I definitely recommend dry months to anyone who drinks a lot -- I usually do one every year

This is generally good advice but kind of tricky for those of us who do not realize we have a problem, or the severity of it if we do.

I started taking breaks once a year but they ended up doing way more harm in the long run because I didn't have an honest assessment of myself (didn't think I had a problem at all despite many obvious red flags) or a good reason (I wanted to reset my tolerance and/or go a month without it to prove I didn't have a problem), and it ended up exacerbating things quite a bit.

Every time I did it, I was that much more eager to get back to drinking, so when that first sip hit, I got a little bit more hooked. That made the breaks harder but getting through them felt like more of an accomplishment, which emboldened me to drink harder because I was more firmly mounted on the notion that I didn't have a problem. Similar to how I wielded the fact that I wasn't a daily drinker, it let me delude myself into hand-waving the many other ways alcohol was destroying my life. Logic was that if I really had a problem, I'd be drinking every day and that I could never go a month if I were truly addicted to alcohol. Pay no mind to what things were like when I couldn't get my hands on a drink <_<

That played out with me sinking deeper and deeper over the course of about six years. The last year or so that I drank was hell because I was locked in the cycle of 3 or 4 week breaks followed by a few weeks on when I did an insane amount of damage. I'd need the breaks to recover but breaks made me drink harder, rinse and repeat. After about 6 months that were basically a compression of the six years prior to that, with all the ups and downs and back and forth and everything that came along with it, I was done. One way or another, I wasn't going to be able to keep drinking like that, or at all.

Anyway, not trying to shit on the idea, or project/transfer/generalize too much about it. It's just that it can be as much of a detriment as a benefit without the proper frame of mind, and the nature of alcohol is such that a proper frame of mind may not be available >_>
