I'm 100% on board with this idea. A lot of people have been floating it ever since the genre change for Like a Dragon was announced, actually. Judgment looks and feels like a legit fusion of a kung fu movie and an investigative J-Drama so it's fine IMO for them to pick up that torch.

Similarly, if Ichiban is going to continue as the new lead of the main series then it should adopt, keep and evolve the RPG genre since it's a big part of his character.

It makes sense for the gameplay to match the lead character. And with how big Yakuza is now, hopefully we'll get some more spin-offs so they can try some other styles too. I'd love to play a cop in Kamurocho.

I have not! Guessing one of the playables in that is a cop. Good to know, something to look forward to.

Fantastic news, Like a Dragon was great and I would hate to lose that, more than happy to let Judgment be where the old school beat'em up style lives.

As someone who has never played Yakuza and has only played Judgment, I'm pretty happy. It was difficult talking to all my Yakuza friends, because none of them has played Judgment, surprisingly. I loved Judgment.

Hopefully this gets more people into Judgment. I didn't play Like A Dragon, but I like RPGs just fine. And if I wanted more brawlers, I have the rest of the Yakuza series.

Yeah, oddly enough i know a couple of people who like the yakuza series, but find the real time combat gameplay too difficult

When you put so much time into writing dialogue and random minigames, you don't want to filter out players who have dexterity issues or don't understand how to block

The series was always this unique hybrid of jrpg, gta, and shenmue that was leaning toward the jrpg angle, so it makes sense for them to finally collapse entirely into the genre they sprung from

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.
