Pretty much any threat of death is replaced with going to the "Shadow Realm, and they don't even let anyone throw a punch on screen. But even the sub was lightened up a little compared to the original story. For example, in the manga ~~Pegasus died~~ at the end of Duelist Kingdom, but in the anime he's still around even in the sequel series.
