The focal point of the start of our topic is not Devil Is A Part-Timer itself, but rather what it represents. Bitches, we are getting a second season! After SEVEN. PLUS. YEARS! This seems to be a bit of a theme moving forward as we see a lot of remakes (Shaman King 2021 yo), remake sequels (Fruits Basket actually finishing the manga ending yo!), and just the next season coming after it was just assumed gone (Devil Is A Part-Timer, Log Horizon) and other such projects!

So the question for discussion is as follows. What anime do you want just one more season of? Ideally for fun it would be an example from at least 5-6 years ago or even longer.

Personally, I want Season 3 of Noragami! The first two seasons were this awesome mix of heart-felt narrative and AWESOME battles... and then for mostly stupid reasons (I think they sampled a small part of a Muslim prayer?) it got a bunch of backlash and they just abandoned it. S2 was 2015. C'mon.... just do it already.

The first season of Saki was by far the best. I watched all of the anime content available for it but I don't really remember liking any of the later stuff all that much.

I'd definitely watch more seasons of they made them though.

Another season of Shakugan no Shana that covers the prequel story and the LN volumes season 2 skipped over would be nice, or maybe a remake of season 2 that covers the corresponding LN content properly instead of being largely anime-original. If anything, just a movie that covers the prequel content would be fine too.

Either that or another season of Log Horizon, when the author releases enough LN volumes (or WN content) to make one. If he sticks to the original plan of ending the series at about volume 15, then another 2-cour anime season should be enough to cover the whole story, too.

I'd like to see a continuation of Zipang (anime had one of those "now buy the manga" non-endings), as well as Betterman/Gaogaigar (they'd just have to animate the Hakai-Oh LN/manga...)

Saki would be nice but... it's not really that far behind the manga, which is currently moving at the pace of a glacier. So super unrealistic unless you want anime original content <_<

things having actual endings is pretty important to me so this is sort of a hard pick. Most of the stuff I've really liked I'm more or less happy with its conclusion and don't super need more. That said, can never go wrong with another season or ten of teekyuu

No Game No Life, please. I absolute adored that show and would probably have given it a 10/10 if it weren't for the blatantly shitty "go read the LN for more" non-ending. A second season that reached the end of the story, or at least a much better and more definitive stopping point, would be amazing.

Since you also mentioned remakes/reboots, I'd also like to see Soul Eater get the Fruits Basket treatment (a new adaptation that sticks closer to the manga and tells the whole story) and Inuyasha get the DBZ Kai treatment (a remaster/reboot that trims out the pointless filler/padding episodes). Plus, an Inuyasha reboot could also potentially slip in more backstory for things that we eventually see in Yashahime.

Even if the show is self-aware of it, a card game anime with like ten minutes of actual card game playing across the first five episodes just isn't doing it for me, and the story isn't nearly good enough to carry it either. This is officially my sixth dropped show of the season.

I just marathoned the last 10 episodes of One Outs in a row... I just couldn't stop. That was so intense and so amazing that I just couldn't shut it off. Even though the ending was a blatant "go read the manga for more" ending, I'm still giving it a 10/10... and I, the ultimate anime-only who can count the amount of manga I've read in my life on one hand, am considering actually reading the manga to see the rest of the story. It was that damn good.

I watched the second episode of Combatants today and wow... this show is seriously not fun at all. It's a dollar store Konosuba with all of the things that made Konosuba good being done really poorly, and not even having two of my favorite VA's in the main cast can save this piece of crap.

Dropped, not even going to give it the third episode. @Caelthus this was a terrible recommendation and you should feel terrible.

I watch it for Alice at this point. The last episode was the best so far, but that's not saying too much. I would prefer a second season of kemono michi instead.

As of today, I've officially started watching what would be (when/if I finish it) the longest anime that I've ever watched on my own time: Major.

It goes for 6 seasons and 154 episodes, followed by a next-generation sequel series for another 2 seasons and 50 episodes. The longest anime that I've ever watched on my own (AKA that I didn't watch as it aired) is Shakugan No Shana at 76 episodes, and Major is more than twice that length even if I don't include the sequel series. I know other people here have probably binge-watched longer series than that, but for me, a series with 150+ episodes like this is a huge undertaking that I've never done before, especially for a show that doesn't have an English dub. But if any series can hold my interest and keep me watching for that many episodes, it's a highly-rated and well-respected baseball anime like Major.

Oh, and I'm doubling up on baseball anime right now, because I'm also re-watching one of my old favorites, Princess Nine.

I've yet to watch an anime that includes cgi (full cgi. Not like something implemented tastefully like in Demon Slayer) and I think "wow, that looked great. I'm glad they didn't animate that". Closest thing I can recall is Demon Slayer, but even then it's only used with effects and not full on characters.

I started watching penguindrum, currently 10 eps in

very strange show. not sure how to describe it other than that. everything is just barely bizarre enough that it's near impossible to comprehend what's going on but you can stil tell that there is something going on, which is probably a hard line to balance along but I'm really not sure what to think of it as a viewer

so far it's interesting in an abstract sort of way but not particularly entertaining

Yeah. I'm thinkin Chainsaw Man will be the next big thing once that gets animated. It's already got a pretty sizeable fandom within the Manga community alone. Hopefully it stays away from CGI since it's Mappa's on it. Because yeah, like I said earlier, good cgi just isn't a thing. With sfx, it can work, otherwise it just never looks right.

Land of the lustrous was pretty good, true it is mostly cgi. iirc the backgrounds and faces were drawn. I still stand by statement of never thinking "wow, that looked great. I'm glad they didn't animate that" if I were to go off the 2dvs3d comparison

If it counts as "anime," there's Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary that I'm glad they went full CG with, I guess.

Its animation and visual effects are way above all the other animated adaptations of the series, which already look pretty good for the most part. Pretty much carries the whole movie because the story is gonna feel super rushed, what with it covering about 6 manga volumes/30 anime episodes' worth of content.
