I'm not very far in at all but a baby just got its face eaten by dinosaurs. Not surprised they cut that from the movie.

I remember reading the lost world in middle school. The beginning had a dude get his guts ripped out by a raptor. Like he was on his knees holding intestines before the dinosaur ate his head.

The books are a lot more violent and fucked up, and Hammond is a complete asshole unlike the kind grandfather in the movies.

True, but they killed him in a similar way, guts ripped out then bitting on his head.
Also the dilophosaurus in the books are more true to their real size (which are a bit bigger than the raptors in the film). The one in the movie is either a juvenile or ingen just made them smaller for some reason.

Doesn't book Grant wear a Hawaiian shirt too? He just seems a lot more chill in the book. Him being anti-kid is funny in the movie though.

It's weird that they made movie Kelly a fusion of her book self and her black friend that tagged along with her (I forget his name. Was it Artie? >_>). Kinda wish they had both characters in the movie

It's also weird that at the end of Jurassic Park 1 book Malcolm dies. But then at the start of the 2nd book, they're like UHHHHHHHHHH he was mostly dead, but managed to recover lolololol >_> I felt like there was definitely some Hollywood pressure there since that character survives in the 1st movie.

It's also cool that the pterodactyl cage from Jurassic Park 3 was in the 1st book. Grant is on a raft in a river and passes through the cage. I forget the details of what happens in the book but it was probably similar to the movie.

i always loved how they took gennaro and turned him into a worthless coward in the movie...

the second book was pretty bad though, it felt like the plot went nowhere.

I love how the book is organized like a campy B-list monster movie. It was a fun surprise from when I started expecting it to be closer to the movie.

But the movie also didn't include one scene I think they 100% should have where Alan and the Kids are stuck in one of the like, vet facilities, and there's a really cute scene with some baby Dinos. I think it appears in one of the later movies, but when I read it I thought this definitely needed to have been in the movie.

Wasn't Gennaro a fucking badass in the book? Maybe I'm misremembering but I thought he went into a volcano near the end of the book to blow up some dinosaur nest with Grant

he was scared but he did what needed doing. they only changed his character for the movie because they didn't want to many protagonists and they wanted to make him the butt of a bunch of jokes.

i reread it after i saw jurassic world and marveled at the fact they stole the active camo dino from the damn book...
