Is this ok on PS4 or is this another Cyberpunk situation?

idk if this was related to my new tv or what, but i had audio issues where i couldn't hear random people while talking, at random times. it was weird, i could hear every other game sound, but sometimes characters would just stay silent and the subtitles would go on as if nothing was wrong (or talk at like 3% volume). It was really inconsistent.

Completed the first major area (right at around 4 hours, so I'll also clock in at well over 10), but I'm gonna reboot my save to better explore. The visual style and lack of "pop" on items make it very hard to see many of them. I'm still quite iffy on this game (and first-person RE/Ethan's saga as a whole), but I will say one thing: PS5's load times are insane. They don't seem quite as impactful for older games (I've tried REMake and RE2Make), but the load times for RE8 are literally one fucking second. It's like playing cartridge games again!

Im playing on PC and havent had any problems with load times. I did have major frame rate issues on the swarms of bugs, though.

I'm done with the first two major thingies and I'm honestly wondering if I should have picked Hardcore from the outset. On Standard, the game is just hurling ammo at me from so many sources that I'm legit having trouble using it all. Very curious if it's tuned more tightly on Hardcore.

Got up to the start of Castle Dimitrescu. Loving it so far. The build up on the snowy path at the beginning of the game felt straight out of SH2 with the sound design. Combat is fluid and really fun, I think they tuned the AI & reduced the health of enemies from the demo a little bit. Feels perfect now. Excited to get back into it ASAP.

For me, the intro survival part was way too brutal on Hardcore. I just couldnt get through it, whereas on standard it wasnt even a problem. Kinda like the intro Mia fight in 7 actually. I hear Hardcore is actually a well balanced challenger outside of the beginning hour or so, but at the time that was enough to scare me away. My hope is that by the time Im done, people will have figured out a good way to get through that section on hardcore

If there's one thing Village copied from RE4 that it nails perfectly it's the feeling of satisfaction from getting a head shot with the rifle

Got past the second boss.

As of right now I find it a lot more enjoyable than 7. Mostly because it takes a lot of small things from 4 that makes me like it more in general. Only thing it's missing is the shooting range.

So the dollhouse area kind of sucks.

I was super creeped out in the first little bit as I was exploring. Then I lost all my items, and the part inside of me that understands games knew that I didn't have anything to worry about. The giant fetus was creepy when I first saw it but the longer the area went without any weapons, the more I wasn't afraid of anything and just sprinted through trying to solve the puzzles to move on >_>. At this point in the game and it being so action forward I wasn't ACTUALLY afraid of anything jumping out and attacking me or putting me on alert. When the fetus first ate me I was like "oh ok so I'm just gonna trial and error this until I make the right decision"

just to add on since I'm thinking about it - I understand some people thinking it was super scary because of the atmosphere, but the more I went through it the more I felt like there was nothing at stake and it was just a puzzle area with some creaking noises and lights flashing. This works in some other horror games because the entire game is like this, building tension and atmosphere from the first second. This is an action game that crawls to a complete halt and tries to make me scared

I dunno after how great I felt from the first few hours this area really brought me down =/

Beated last night. Great game and my personal GotY this year but that is not saying much at all because the only other game I beat this year is Persona 5 Strikers. Plan to replay the higher difficulties and see where it would rank in the series for me when all is said and done.
