Depends on how long the flight is, a short flight of 1 hr- 3 hrs is a no first class or business class is not worth it.

Anything over the 3 hr mark however is a resounding yes it is worth it.

International - no. Business class is worth it though.
domestic - worth upgrading at the airport for $50-100 / ticket or whatever it is now, not worth paying full price.

Yes if 3+ hours. No on international Delta as that is Delta One and $4000. But business class is domestic first class on international and yes.

If you are an anxious flyer like me, it's a must.

It would be probably like a 15 hr flight to Hawaii with 1-2 stops. Maybe that's why it's so expensive

This would depend on them not being sold out of first class seats.. But if they aren't sold out, I've always wondered if this actually worked or not

Not sure I understand this sentence but I feel like there is a good tip here

Also- which airlines have the best first class?

Domestic first class is not worth it.

International is totally worth it though. Flew Business class to French Polynesia on our honeymoon and it was awesome. My husband still remembers being brought sandwiches right after he woke up. And the crazy number of wine choices.

If you're traveling more than 5 hours 1 way, well worth it imo (business or 1st class)

What is the difference? Like what do you get in International that you don't get in Domestic?

What is the difference between Business and First Class? Sometimes I see they are combined and sometimes they are different tiers

International flights are generally longer in that you have time to enjoy the amenities you are paying extra for. I mean the only people that I knew that had flown 1st class domestically got it because of an upgrade. They sure as hell wouldnt pay for it.

Domestic flights generally only have 2 classes. The planes are are not the big ones that are split into 3 classes.

International have the true 3 classes - 1st, business, and economy. 1st has the biggest seats and the best food and beverages. Business still has decent sized seats (but maybe not the full lay down like 1st) and very good food. Economy is economy. You also get access to the lounges prior to flight so you dont have to sit out with the economy people when you fly business or first class.

15 hours and 1 or 2 stops ? Better get those 1st class or business tickets pronto, do not be stuck in couch or economy for that long ass flight.

Did a $50 upgrade on a 2.5 hour flight to Vegas.

So worth it. Free alcohol and much better meal.

I've never flown first class unless I was upgraded.

First class is nice but I don't really mind sitting in coach, especially for short flights

May be better to fly into a California airport the night before, get a hotel for the night and then get a non stop flight from that airport into Hawaii and only pay for first class on that flight.

LAX has morning flights that get you into HNL for noonish (because of time differences). Better to do that than fly all day and get into HNL at night.

Also I dont know if there is another larger airport you can fly out of. I usually fly out of my local airport but for my honeymoon I flew out of JFK because I could get a direct flight to Tahiti from there.

Def something Ill look into

Here's the breakdown:

Domestic first: larger, more comfortable seats, priority boarding, better food

International business: expensive, lay-flat bed, good food, excellent service (on most airlines). Most people travelling this will be on business (hence the name), or will have bought it on points, or are relatively well off and consider a comfortable journey to be worth the $1,500 or so.

International first: Prohibitively expensive, larger beds than business, personalized service, gourmet 5-start meals and top shelf booze. People travelling this will either have used points or have the kind of fuck you money that they are able to spend 5 to 10 grand on a flight.

Edit: what you should do is figure out what kind of plane(s) you will be flying on. If you're going to Hawai'i, you might get an internationally configured plane and luck out with a business class bed. Post here and I can help you if you'd like.

So far I've looked at American Airlines, Delta, and United in that price range. Hawaiian Airlines was way too far out of that price range

For longer flights I try to do something like economy plus or extra leg room, but I'm enough of a baller to even think about doing first class.

Business class tends to be great but yeah some of the international 1st class is crazy expensive which is when business class is what you go with. I like space and comfort but sometimes 1st class is a little bit too much.
