my friend is thinking about accepting a senior's position at my agency

he got 2 offers, one is a technical senior engineer and the other is a supervisor senior engineer

both have the same pay

the technical senior job is about 10% more of a workload than his current (no managerial duties at all)

the supervisor senior job is about 100% more of a workload, because he has to do more technical work as well as managerial work

but with the supervisor's job he would get his own office

(our cubicles are 6 feet tall and totally enclosed so it's not bad at all)

I want my own office, but I wouldn't pick the office choice in that scenario.

have you ever thought of posting on a board for slightly more successful people?

One of the best perks of the job, along with the personal bathroom, and garaged parking space.

I dont like having an office tbh. I routinely leave it to walk out to the bullpen area to interact or brainstorm. If I need to focus im perfectly capable of using headphones. Instead I'm stuck by myself for long periods of time.

It only really comes in handy when I have someone visiting from outside the company. I could just use a conference room for the same effect though.

Its the biggest perk of being a manager for me. Otherwise, Id rather be a lonely staff.

Pretty similar at my husbands place. He had a cube (albeit a large cube for the longest time). After a couple promotions he got an office. He likes being able to close the door for all his calls. He manages people, but most are in other states or countries.

I have a corner office overlooking a golf course and two secretaries to myself. It is great. I have a TV on all day and no one bothers me unless I allow them to.

I couldnt imaging working from a cube at this point but if I was starting out the work experience would be more important if both paid the same.

I don't really but why not. One handles my schedule and phone and does random organization type things the other I use to review my work and file/copy/go do things. Its a huge help.

Damn nice. I'd get 1 brunette and 1 blonde just for the variety. Go red head if they give you a 3rd but gotta cover the basics first

I love having my own office, it would be hard going back to sharing an office or...*shudder* an open office plan.

That said, I haven't actually been in my office since the pandemic started, been working from home.
