This is one reason im anti death penalty, if one innocent person is executed all executions must be stopped and yes I would feel that way if one of my family members was a victim, the government has no right to execute anyone imo

An old case where the available DNA evidence was not even used to determine guilt or innocence until well after the fact is not a valid reason to abolish the death penalty altogether, only to tighten the requirements needed to retain the death penalty as a possible punishment for a given case.

You're correct. The reasons for abolishing the death penalty are numerous and far more sound than a single case's anecdote.

This. It kills innocent people far too often, it's incredibly expensive, and it does absolutely nothing to keep society safer.

The prosecution got their conviction and it wasnt in their interest to allow it. The man likely couldnt afford decent defense during his initial trial either

You still can't set bars like that because people have been executed in the past due to proven faked evidence and cop lies. So it looks like "guilty without doubt" to a jury but then it turns out the jury was fed a bunch of fucking lies.

Yeah, which is why I dont like. Itd probably have to be self-defense or some scenario that doesn't go to court

More over our entire judicial system is based upon being guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Implementation of an additional level of assurance to qualify for capital punishment basically implies that people not qualified to be executed are less guilty of their crimes.

While this particular case was wrong, take a look at his other crimes.

He was accused of three sexual assaults, and convicted of two, the 1991 rape of a Jacksonville woman and the 1990 rape of a Jacksonville teenager.
He was also prosecuted for the November 1989 rape and murder of 22-year-old Christine Lewis, a mother, in November 1989.

Because I thought it was pretty simple. He said who, I said Jesus (insert any sort of omnipotent being really)

How does that(he) work, you said, well, the implications should be obvious. It doesn't, the system is too flawed for me to be comfortable having it kill people

But you could be a simple as your manners reflect

Would you be willing to be an executioner for all future death penalties?
