Board 8 > Do you rush through games just because you have less time for gaming?

Sometimes I feel like I need to finish a game just because of a sense of...duty? that I need to finish that particular game, especially since I have other games in my backlog. I miss the days I can just take the scenic route, so to speak, and not worry about the amount of time I spend on a game.

I feel like i have more time to lollygag as an adult, as my parents no longer regulate my screen time. But then again, i don't have kids so ymmv

I'm a generally impatient gamer sometimes in spite of that. If there's a story i really want to see the end of, it starts feeling like the gameplay is just getting in the way

What makes it silly is that i know i can just look up the cutscenes or even full playthroughs up on YouTube whenever i want

I wouldnt say I rush through but I play on lower difficulties to make it quicker.

Sometimes, if i feel like the game is wasting my time or if I'm uninterested in the late game side content

I took like 5 months to beat Cold Steel IV, so no, I still get everything out of it that I want to get. It just means I don't play as many games now.

I have more time than ever to game right now, so I don't rush through games. I am much more selective on the games I play now, though, and won't hesitate to drop a game that isn't holding my interest.

Not really. I feel that kind of mindset is just an invitation to a lot of anxiety and stress. No need to put yourself in a constant rushing mode for something that's suppose done leisurely. You have in your life for that.

I would also say you would enjoy the game much less if you were to rush through it just to get to the next thing.

I dont rush through games but I find myself very easily dropping stuff I don't want to play or abandoning side content.

Some games I love and don't beat just because I hit something that skews the time/benefit analysis to me, like Sekiro I got to the end and hit a wall on the last two bosses and had to put the game down. Others like BotW, SMO, and the Yakuza series really deleted my completionist urges because there is SO MUCH side content I might have enjoyed once but just don't want to bother with anymore.

I do get the sense of mild anxiety and obligation to finish some games but I don't usually try to rush them if I'm still enjoying them, and if I'm not then I end up dropping the game.

No. Rushing through a game, especially one I like makes me feel like I'm doing myself a disservice.

Yeah I don't rush through games I either play and do every sidequest that's not stupidly time consuming or drop the game if I'm not feeling it. I'm pretty all or nothing

This and also I usually dont do much post game unless Im really enjoying the game. I also wont allow myself to get stuck on the same spot for several days and will seek for help before it gets to that point.

Oh yeah so much this. Im much quicker to consult guides than I used to be. The era of hitting random walls for 4 hours is over. Single handed killed LaMulana 2 for me
