Holy shit, today I learned that WWE got rid of Braun Strowman.

https://www.sescoops.com/2021/06/update-on-braun-strowmans-salary-and-wwe-release/

Kind of fucking crazy, considering he was a bigger name. Granted, he was always so-so in terms of talent and they'd consistently misused him, but still....

Can't wait for AEW to sign him then put him on commentary >_>

For example, one of my favorites, Kofi Kingston, debuted in that time frame on ECW and was undefeated for months, too.

Huh. Didn't realize he started on ECW. For some reason, I thought he started on one of the main brands. It's weird because he'd definitely started before I stopped watching (particularly given that I think they did that thing with DX (which I think was when they were feuding with Team Rated RKO) where he wound dropping the Jamaican accent... actually, if he changed gimmicks, maybe that's why I don't remember him changing brands)

2005-2010 on Syfy probably would have been the ECW relaunch, but apparently Smackdown was on Syfy from 2010-2015. I'm not sure what other wrestling might have been on it from 2008 onward, because I wasn't paying as much attn.

Maybe Lashley?

https://www.sportskeeda.com/wwe/7-lesser-known-wwe-undefeated-streaks-might-know/5

I would need more information, like what he looked like. That wrestling period I watched from maybe 2004-2008, so I'm not sure what happened after. I had watched from the beginning of the ECW relaunch until when I gave up because they weren't pushing CM Punk and instead were focused on Lashley who looked like a million bucks, but he only had maybe 5-bucks worth of talent at the time and his promos couldn't draw a dime (which people eventually got around by giving him a mouthpiece, with MVP being probably the best at it).

He definitely wasn't black. Either white or hispanic. Might have been named Eddy or something like that. Think he had curly brown hair. Also If I remember right he lost fairly early in his "undefeated" streak.

I saw a tweet or something featuring Vicky announcing him. idk, the only thing I know about Andrade is that he's either dating or married to Charlotte. afaik he wasn't with the WWE when I was last watching it.

And now the former Aleister Black is expressing interest in AEW, but WWE is muttering about trying to get him back. Contract ploy, perhaps?

I can't imagine them caring about anybody going to AEW at this point, which is why they let so many contracts go.

I still haven't finished this week's AEW Dark (let alone Elevation... and I think their nights might have been different?). Partly because it's a 1hr44 minute episode and a rotten card (I've wound up skipping maybe half the matches), but also because I've been busy and... idk, maybe the fact that some comedy bullshit hast started to bleed into Dark has subconsciously started to sour me on the program.

What had initially drawn me to Dark was that it was just wrestling. They didn't even have any promos, although I'm fine with the occasional promo. However, so far this episode they had Matt Hardy meeting with TH2 (which, don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed) and yet another shitty Jelly Nutella segment (no, Joey, I don't give a shit about "bad boy summer" and the whole "__ summer" meme is played out). And when they did have a promo -- which again, I'm often okay with -- it was this awkward thing with Dante Martin (jfc, put this kid back in wrestling school) where he was reading a script with zero passion or conviction. That and fucking Vicky Guerrero... Her sucking up time while announcing Nyla has gotten so annoying. It's supposed to be a big heel thing, but I imagine most people don't even watch it.

At any rate, I'll probably watch the start of the latest Dynamite for the Christian/Angelico match, which they teased in that Dark segment.

Pre-COVID, AEW Dark was usually 1 hour and hosted by Tony and Dasha (in studio, they'd "kick it to the announce team" to then show the pre-recorded match). There'd be like 3-5 matches total, and there'd be some short interview segments and other stuff (Cody had a segment weekly where he'd talk to a young or up and coming talent about their past and their motivations that was usually pretty good).
I loved those episodes, they breezed by and were entertaining. Reminded me of Sunday Night Heat and other old WWF weekend shows.

But ever since, it's been these insufferable 1.5 - 2.5 hour slogs full of so many matches and I just can't... Even watching at 2x speed, it's just way too much. I'm back at like November for Dark episodes, I want to try to catch them all, but the backlog just keeps growing...
I am mostly up to date on Elevation, just haven't seen this week's yet. But I'm sure that will soon slip, too.

This week's Dynamite was pretty good. Besides the Christian match, Miro match, and Young Bucks match (all good); the Nyla/Leyla match and main event were also good albeit I disagreed w/ the finish for them.

What got me into Dark was a roughly 1-hour episode where it was *just* wrestling. They didn't even have promos. And for a long time -- even when the show started to run longer episodes -- it was still just wrestling and *maybe* the occasional Acclaim video (which, until I really got their whole gimmick, I'd just skip through -- when Max rhymed "Hangman" with "hang, man", it finally clicked and I realized it was supposed to be overly campy and bad).

While the longer run time is a bit of an issue, it's where the time is going that often bothers me. It's the same reason I don't watch Raw, SD, NXT, or Dynamite -- too much time is going to shit other than wrestling. Some of that time isn't even tangentially related to wrestling.

Elevation has a bit more variety, which I'm okay with. I like the interview segments, I'm fine with a few longer matches, highlighting wrestlers is nice, etc. The first episode I was a little iffy on just because it had a bunch of skits and then you had Tony Khan coming out and being a character (wtf), but thankfully most haven't been like that.

When I watch wrestling, I want to see people fighting people or talking about wanting to fight people. Anything outside that square starts to lose me. I was a bit more tolerant of the WWE's sketches back when they had talented performers doing them, but that's very rarely the case now and wasn't even always the case then.

Finally finished last week's Dark and Elevation. I guess the nights might not have been switched after all, I just saw the Dark first for whatever reason >_>

AEW Dark e92 - 6/8/21

1hr44

Archer v jobber. Starts with Archer dragging guy out from back, tossing him in the ring, and proceeding to have much-too-long match with him. WTF? Plus the backstage ambush is silly since they came out to Archers music

Backstage Matt with TH2. Big Money Matt is putting a hit on Christian, but offering very small money (like $4200, which he ups to $8450 or something). He wants Angelico to beat Christian bad enough to end his career. Drops a few deletes in there (not sure if thats a Broken Matt revival tease or just a normal thing; I know hes done the voice at times). He also offers to let them into the HFO if Angelico wins.

Abadon v Willow. Skipped.

Cezar v Cyrus (debut). Cyrus looks cool. Big man match, with both doing some moves big men shouldnt. One of the best moments was watching Ryan try to cross-body Cyrus outside the ring, only to bounce off.

Angelico v Matthew Justice (debut). Surprisingly competitive match. Starts with Justice spearing Angelico and going for a pin, then landing a few good moves until he tries a jumping something on Angelico outside the ring, only for Angelico to dodge. Justice hits the railing by the ringside and they replay that moment a few times. It was a pretty mean-looking bump, but nowhere near as bad as the one Billy Gunns opponent took the other week from that missed suicida. At any rate, 24 minutes in and there have been 3 matches and a backstage segment. Not terrible. (Although I skipped one of the matches.)

Dante Martin promo. Dante cuts a very awkward promo on Matt Sydal. Jfc, this guy needs to get some serious training. Why does Tony Khan do this? This is embarrassing. Im not sure whether or not Dante might be good someday, but I could cut a more convincing promo than that on the spur of the moment.

Tay Conti v Natalia Markova. Highlights of this trainwreck included Markova did a slow, sloppy cartwheel well, she slowed down for a lot of shit and

Chaos Project v Tommy and something Daily? I just skipped because Chaos Project is terrible.

Jelly Nutella backstage interview about the injury he suffered at the hands of Adam Page. He wants to go to a bar with Alex. Sonny interrupts, asks Jelly to be ringside. He agrees, but then ducks out anyway. Are they splitting up the team? Who knows, who cares.

Marko Stunt v Ariel Dominguez. Oh look, they found somebody Markos height. I was tempted to watch a minute because at least theyre about the same size (even if Dominguez has some musculature and Marko doesnt), but Marko is just really awful. I gave up quickly.

Aaron Solow v Sonny. Skipped.

Nyla v Missa Kate. I skipped through the Vicky part but, several days later, I cant remember how much I actually watched.

QT v Bear Bronson. Decent match, cool finish

Megan Bayne (Greek gimmick chick) v Thunder Rosa. Lousy match. Rosa kept on a submission angle, focusing on Megans legs but she seemed to alternate which leg she was targeting. And Megan wasnt selling the leg injuries enough, sometimes going for kicks instead staying with punches. Megan in general was underutilized this time.

DOs Stu Grayson, Colt, & 10 v jobbers. You know, other than being a little small, Stu is pretty cool. I liked the neat Viking look, but I hadnt seen as much of his power moves. Colt and Dan Barry got into this long joke segment. That wasnt bad for a DO match.

Swole & Kilynn v Sea Stars. Huh, did Kilynn change her hair? I cant remember her old color, but the red just looks weird unless its because her ring attire is completely difference since she normally wears greens or maybe some blue, whereas this is a red and blue outfit. Something jarring about that. Maybe 5-6 minute match.

Backstage interview with QT & Factory. QT corrects Tony says its Marsh-al (not Marshall), answering my running question (although Cornette had mentioned something about that). Making a big deal over a recent win over Cody, shitty segment.

Matt Sydal v Dante Martin. They keep playing up that this is a main event and describing it as a battle of generations (is Sydal really that old? I thought he was just in his 30s although I guess Dante is stupidly young so meh). Dante towers over Sydal. Man is Sydal short >_>

15-minute match. A few minutes, I finally skipped forward. Sydal is okay, but Dante is ugh. A short match with him is fine, but I cant take a long Dante Martin match.

AEW Elevation ep 13 6/7/21

1hr14

Highlights:
#1 -- Hikaru Shida actually wrestled. She has a new look, which I'm not sure if she premiered here
#2 -- Hobbs showboated by doing NINE consecutive body slams

Santana and Ortiz opening promo (who I didnt even recognize at first, since I havent seen them by themselves and I havent watched much Dynamite)

Rache Chanel (who?) v Jade. Rache got a ring entrance, they talk about last seeing her in November. I think shes just enhancement, but who the fuck knows? Regardless, the second you see Jade, you know how this one is ending. Im also thinking Jade would make a great She-Hulk oh, shes apparently only 510. Thought she was taller. Guess they did the smart thing and gave her a shorter manager. Great physique, though. She looks strong while still being slender.

Santana and Ortiz v jobbers. I watched the opening minutes then skipped the rest which turned out to not be much more.

Backstage with DO. Evil Uno sounds like Cobra Commander. Hes gloating about how hes going to win the TNT, then talks about how hes going to fight Danny Limelight (which should be fun)

Scorpio Sky (w/ E Page on commentary) v Trevor Read. Why the fuck arent they having them tag? I know neither one is injured because theyre both working singles matches. New entrance video, with a Men of the Year tag team name with clips featuring the two. At any rate, AEW finally has another tag team I love and now theyre not using them. Wtf?

Varsity Blondes backstage promo.

Cage & Hobbs v jobbers. Match starts with Hobbs doing NINE body slams in a row, teasing a tenth, and then just dropping him. That shit was great as hell. Cage hit the other guy with a move that looked like itd leave with him a concussion and then another one. Those two were just rough landings. Thankfully after that it was gentler. Pretty fun match, even though it was one-sided as hell.

Limelight v Evil Uno. Limelight has a new intro. For some reason, Tony calls this Evil Unos singles debut. I *know* Ive seen him in other singles matches. My favorite moment may have been Uno just slowly walking out of the way of Limelight throwing and completely missing a move from the top rope. Fun match, although there was a sloppy move or two (like Limelight trying to roll up Uno, then clearly shoving him free)

Diamante promo on Shida.

Mike Sydal v E Page (with Sky on commentary). Oh ffs Really? Just have Page and Sky work a tag together.

Acclaimed v DOs Reynolds & #5. Kinda crappy match, with a stupid ending. (Max brings the boombox in for a distraction, while Bowen tosses Reynolds the chain then drops to the mat although the ref cant see the performance. Not that it makes any dif, since they never DQ anyway. After that, they sneak back in with the boombox.)

Kris Statlander v Queen Aminata. Long, lousy match.

Wingmen JD Drake & Nemeth (w/ Cezar and Pete Avalon) v Varsity Blondes (w/Julia Hart). Although Julia Hart shouldnt be shown wrestling just yet, she definitely adds something to the Varsity Blondes. Watching somebody react ringside makes it a bit easier to get invested in the match.

Hikaru Shida v Diamante. Usually I want to skip Diamante matches, but Shida barely ever wrestles and huh, new look for Shida. Really cute. The looks reminds me of one of the girls from the Japan side of that womens tourney. Drawing a blank on the name.

Might have been during the time when Scare Tactics was still on the air.

Let's see... the original Scare Tactics was 2003-2005, which was before ECW (Edge won the WWE Championship at New Year's Revolution 2006, ECW came back later that year -- with RVD later winning the WWE title that same year and spinning it off to create the ECW title).

Scare Tactics then came back in 2008 and ran until 2013. ECW ran from 2006 and was apparently discontinued in 2010. I guess that would mean sometime between 2008 and 2010, which only eliminates two years. Unfortunately, those two years happen to be the years I was watching. Bobby Lashley had won the title in this absolutely awful match against Big Show (in fact, the PPV it happened at -- December to Dismember -- was roundly criticized and went so poorly that Heyman was removed from ECW (despite the fact that 90% of the problems were Vince's meddling and WWE "creative")) and I'd stopped watching in early 2007 as a result because I figured they were *never* going to push CM Punk and instead were just going to dick around with the main WWE talent so the brand was always going to suck (which, at the time, was a fair assessment because they took the title from RVD to give it to Big Show (wtf?), all so they could have Lashley -- who wasn't ready -- win it)

At that point, I was just done with wrestling again. I'd only been watching from maybe some point in 2004 or 2005 when my cousin got into it (he was a big JBL fan -- and now he lives in Texas, go figure) and, at that time, disliked Cena (which I still kinda do) but I also wasn't an Edge fan just yet because I saw him as taking a spot from Kurt Angle (and Chris Masters, who I had hoped would win the Elimination Chamber that year). Even at the time, though, I enjoyed that goofy home invasion angle and I love the moment he won the title. And his version of the spinner belt might be my favorite incarnation of the title.

By the time I did finally get back to it, CM Punk had already left the company (and the news surrounding his departure might have been what got me interested again, because I hadn't thought he'd ever be used in a main event role). I guess that would be very early 2014. That lasted until either October 2016 or 2017 when I fell behind on the shows and never bothered getting back to them.

...oh, right, what was the question again? >_>

Anyway, I'd stopped watching wrestling by 2008 (when Scare Tactics came back with Tracy Morgan as the host), so I can't help. I also wouldn't be much help with Scare Tactics, since I didn't watch much of Tracy Morgan's run. That was just weirdly off-brand casting for a host.

Cornette says a very few words about the WWE's very weird obsession with Eva Marie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SiQctocTqc

It's bizarre that after just firing many talented female wrestlers, they bring back the epitome of the old Divas idea -- Miss All Red Laurantis Lingerie Model Special -- who, when I last saw her, was easily among the worst women in televised wrestling (but then AEW had to come along and, after giving us a lot of no-talents, rushed poor Julia Hart to the ring where she was so green she botched her finisher in half her matches)

At any rate, I had been taking notes on AEW Dark & Elevation, but I finally wound up stopping because I realize I'm probably never going to use them for anything and I'd probably be able to google the card after the fact. There are probably some things I'd want to loop back on, but it's not a whole lot. And I'm guessing there are some wikis with a wrestler's entire AEW history (I *think* I saw it for one of the girls) which would make finding certain things easy.

I'm probably also going to start skipping matches even more liberally. Back when it was just Dark, I was cool with watching an episode each week even if it ran long and then just skipping a thing or two. However, Dark + Elevation adds up to anywhere from 2.5 to 5.5 hours each week which is a *lot* of free time. And some of these guys are a waste. I'm trying to think of the last time I saw a good Nyla Rose match. It was probably the one where she squashed Madi (who might be the best enhancement gal AEW has used -- it's between her and *maybe* Tesha Price; Madi could probably even make Julia Hart look good, which Tesha came up short on)

I've also been watching some "old" (in that they happened in the last decade, rather than really recently) WWE matches and angles. It was weird seeing Adam Cole compete because what little I know of him has been as SD's GM. And Drew might be great in the ring, but he just has a crappy visual.

Hart's very young and green in the ring, but come on. She's still no where near as bad as Eva!
She actually had a pretty good match w/ Penelope Ford on Dynamite on Friday, and Ford isn't someone you think of for carrying others to a good match.

She is the literal incarnation of the character Vince has been pushing for like a decade, that never, ever catches fire because Vince is pretty much the only one at this point who actually wants it (other than maybe Kevin Dunn and Laurinaitis).

It's what Vince wanted when they tried to turn Emma into Emmalina. Then later with Mandy Rose. Then they dropped that to try it with Carmella instead. It's not a coincidence that Carmella's latest push as "sultry blonde" stopped when they shifted it over to Eva Marie (even if she's red instead of blonde, everything else is the same). I think they may have flirted with putting Liv Morgan into that role as well at one point. And it all mostly goes back to the fact that they can't stop jerking off over the idea of Sable.

OMG! The impossible has happened! A 49-minute AEW Dark! At first I read that as an hour 49, and figured, "Eh, at some point maybe..." but it was 49 minutes!

I know I was going to stop doing notes, but I kept seeing things I wanted to mention.

AEW Dark e94 - 6/22/21

49min episode with TEN matches. Now thats more my thing!

Brian Pillman Jr promo on Miro (for attack on Dynamite)

Lance Archer v Jobber

Brian Pillman v Bear Bronson. Okay-ish match, sloppy finish where Brian Pillman missed grabbing the leg for the pin then the instant replay makes that even more clear.

Brian Cage v Chandler Hopkins (0-3). Hopkins is scrawny as fuck but the kicks, etc, looked great. Awesome match, but a sloppy finish where Cage botched his final moves.

Diamante v Ashley Dambois or whatever. Skipped.

Colt Cabana v Kip Sackett. Loved watching Colt totally no-sell that chop. The bionic elbows also looked good. You know, for match that lasted maybe all of a minute, they got a LOT in. Easily one of my favorite matches of the night.

Chuck Taylor v the Detective (what?) Dan Barry. Not sure what the hell is with this guy. Wasnt a terrible match, but meh.

Ashley Vox v Abadon. Skipped.

Griff Garrison v Marko Stunt. Skipped.

Bunny v Reka Tehaka (0-6 record, why even show that? Buries your jobbers).

Serpentico v Stu Grayson. Like all of Serpenticos matches, it was a waste. His 2021 record is supposed 1-3, which cant possibly be right. In general, Im not sure Ive ever seen him win in solos.

Somewhat intrigued by Edge's most recent return

And apparently the WWE continues to make cuts:

Kinda feels like a lot of people going all of the sudden.

Those cuts mean that 205 Live is pretty much 86 Dead.

You know, I don't think I ever watched a single episode of 205 Live. Not that cruiserweights were ever really my thing... well, the division as a whole, anyway. I guess some wrestlers I liked had cruiserweight runs.

Apparently the WWE hired a writer who knows nothing about wrestling and actively disliked wrestling.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OIRaQ0ngxI

https://www.sportskeeda.com/wwe/rumor-negative-backstage-reaction-new-wwe-writer-s-bobby-ashley-comments-revealed-reports

Pretty much shows what everything is a fucking mess these days. Honestly, it was a pretty open secret that being a wrestling fan disqualified people from working in their creative department, but jfc...

She gave an interview admitting that she knew nothing and putting down the business on a Thursday, then got fired on Friday.

43-minute Elevation episode this week >_>

One of the better ones, too, other than the last match (Dante v Serpentico)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggZCbGABNpY

iirc, card was:

Rosa v Leila Gray
Scorpio v... Nick Krauss or something? idk, debuting job guy
Hikaru Shida v Dani Jordan
Angelico v Pockets (which actually featured a good dive, since Angelico wasn't just standing waiting to take it)
Serena Deeb v Tesha Price
Dante Martin v Serpentico (Why? Just why?)

Zeus posted... jfc, a 43-minute Elevation? I think this is the shortest one they've done by far. They really didn't want to give people an excuse to skip it.

Otherwise:

1) I like Dani, but she has the shittiest-looking forearm strikes. Kinda sucks that she doesn't get used more often. Also haven't seen Madi in like 2 months now, I think since that Tay Conti match. (afaik she's not injured). Otherwise it's just hilarious how we went from never seeing champion Shida to constantly seeing normal Shida.

2) I love Tesha, but she goes overboard on selling sometimes. That and she totally botched that Detox by not helping Deeb with the set-up.

And every time I see Deeb I think two things:
1 -- She's easily among the best in-ring women in the business today
2 -- That's one rough 35 >_>

3) I love how Tony finally pointed out Serpentico's impressive losing record -- he's only won ONE singles match. I probably should have just skipped that match, since Serpentico is lousy and Dante is sloppy.

4) I'll say this -- Angelico v OC was the *first* OC match I kinda liked, although it got meh by the end.

Why hello!

It's a long story but I'm alive. Barely.

I hate this whole Doudrop angle, and it's just Vince hating on larger women again because he's a tool. They fire CJ (Lana) just to bring back Eva Marie, a woman who has had a decade to improve in the ring but hasn't, and kicked Lana to the curve as she has been improving in the ring. It's more Vince decisions that make zero sense.

Yeah, we'd been wondering what happened to you. I just remembered that you'd talked about being busy with the house the other month, so I figured it was that.

I never saw any potential with CJ/Lana as a wrestler, she should have been left as a valet (even though she got in as a wrestler)

As for Eva Marie, she's never cared about wrestling, which is why she apparently didn't work anywhere else during her hiatus and, even when she was with the company before, she barely wrestled.

I've had three major surgeries in the last three weeks. Two on my chest and one on my right leg. My graft in my chest finally failed, and in the process of getting it fixed I kind of died. I don't recommend almost dying. I was weak as a baby kitten for a few weeks, and now I'm finally getting back to normal.

In wrestling related news my DVR quit recording NXT. I have no idea why but when my wife and I got back home late Tuesday night it wasn't on my list.

I'm kind of sad because the two things I wanted to see was the fued between LA Knighy and Caneron Grimes and the stiff with Samoa Joe. I'll catch up.online.

Finally Main Event Jey Uso might have a drinking problem as he got pulled over for a DUI again, and now he's off television. He probably won't get fired, but he apparently does need help.

I'm trying something new. It could be a success or a massive failure, but you don't know until you try.

Professional Wrestling has been a hobby and a way of life for me for over 30 years. I've been to countless house shows and dozens of Pay Per Views and a few Wrestlemanias. I even somehow convinced my wife to become a huge fan. (I'm a lucky guy)

Those of you old enough can remember more than 20 years ago when I started posting here because my brother found a place to get video games cheats and walk through from one of his high school buddies. Therefore, I've been here a while. I gained a wife and a family and lost two kidneys and a leg over that time.

The point is that life has ups and downs and so does Wrestling. I understand that Wrestling will never be as popular today as it was in the Attitude Era, or the Monday Night Wars Era, and I don't expect it to be. What I do expect is that enough people on these boards will care enough to drop in and post a thought or two every few days.

Much like the Geek topics I will have an opening question.

"Whois your all time favorite Professional Wrestler and Why?"

HappyPosting!

Bret Hart due to his ability to make any and everyone look good. never hurt anybody, all of his matches made sense and realistic promos.

As far as wrestling issues go, DUIs seem pretty tame. Plus it's a matter that a lot of wrestlers drink and they're stuck doing a lot of driving... although I think that might not be an excuse since Raw & SD might not be on the road again.

Otherwise, I was never an Usos fan before they wound up as Roman's henchmen. And in general, I like heel Roman because I genuinely dislike Roman (although not quite like Cena where he got heel heat with me).

Granted, most faces -- particularly in the last 20 years or so -- tend to feel bland so I often prefer wrestlers' heel runs.

Also good to have crowds back at AEW, setting aside the one jackass who jumped into the ring.

Somebody was trying to tell me that Alexa Bliss is a face now and was a face even during her run with Bray Wyatt. Is that true? Oo I hadn't followed the angle closely, because it looked like garbage and I'm not regularly watching WWE atm.

Oh, by the way, you got the wrong Uso.

When you said it, I thought it was weird because I'd seen a clip with Jey recently. However, Jimmy has been sporadic at best.

Might want to be aware that NXT is going to be on Syfy for the next two weeks. It's getting pre-empted off USA because of the Olympics.

Oh yeah, I watched Fyter Fest one. It was kinda weird that the best thing on the card was likely Christian v Matt Hardy, which is a decades-old rivalry where they've had plenty of 1v1 matches over the years so you'd think it'd be a little boring (although they know each other so well that they can put on a good match... even if it was silly that they were doing a count for it when nobody DQs on ringout anyway in AEW except Aja Kong's loss in the Women's Tourney)

My second favorite match, weirdly enough, might have been Yuka v Ford despite never liking Ford. Yuta v Sammy was good, though, and Brian Cage match with the fluky finish was something I'd wanted to see. And the liked the Coffin match. The only misfire was Moxley, but his in-ring is always awful. I had to turn that one off early.

I -- okay, you've got me on this one, Zeus. What brought you to this conclusion? I don't think I've seen Mox have a bad match since I started watching AEW, give or take one (non-)exploding barb mire death match, and even that was really good up until the end.

They lost me almost immediately when they started to trade the fakest-looking elbows I've ever seen (this was after Gallows and Eddie Kingston "fought off"), and they kept doing it. It just looked so fucking bad, and it went on forever. Then they went out of the ring -- because every Moxley match is a lot of time out of the ring -- where I was watching him demonstrate how phony his punches looked. At that point, I officially said "Fuck this, life is too short to watch a Moxley match" and skipped to the next segment.

Life was also too short to watch the Elite and Dark Order get into whatever they got into.

I'll say one thing: Moxley keeps fooling me into watching his matches. He'll cut a great promo (like the one he just did on Lance Archer during FF1) and I'll want to see that match. But it's always the drizzling shits. Always. Because Mox doesn't know how to work. (And when a match is passable -- like when he fought Danny Limelight on Elevation iirc -- it's the other guy carrying him.)

Supposedly if you sit around until they film Dark/Elevation (which they apparently do at the same show?), they bump your seating closer to ringside as people leave.
