Someone made a really terrible topic suggesting that no one could make a toplist for the best games of all time and include games from the last 10 years. This inspired me to make a list of what I think are great candidates for games to go on my own top 100 games of all time that came out as of 2010, the games in bold are especially great candidates.

Keep in mind that this is my list, not yours, and if you wanna nitpick me over a few titles that I either didn't include, or did include I don't wanna talk to you, Although if you're simply curious why something isn't on the list, I'll let you know. Just please, be polite about it.

Let's talk about what we both like instead, and I'd like to see your list as well.

Also keep in mind that outside of the first game, these aren't in any specific order.

My top 50 list:

The Witcher 3(Personal favorites aside, it's the best game I've played in my 25+ years as a gamer! Baldur's Gate 2 is the only game that comes close!)

Aww..no love for The Witcher 3's ability to nail sidequests so well? But yeah, always nice to come across a BG2 fan! Finally finished it a last year, playing like an 1-3 hours every time I played and doing pretty much every sidequest in the game. Was some of the best time I had as a gamer, hence why I say that it's the only game that comes close to being as great as The Witcher 3.

Ah Rayman Origins...I remember playing your demo years ago, and it literally felt like I was at Disneyland again back in the 90's, enjoying Splash Mountain. I was so entranced that I decided to pre-order it "for the free copy of Rayman 2." Found Rayman 2 super confusing and I couldn't stand the visual style. Then when the game released I really ate the game up...until the game killed itself for me by having steep requirements for the Shinies or whatever you have to collect.

This is what killed Super Mario 3d world for me too. Yeah, I'm certainly capable of collecting all the shinies if I put in the work, it's just not worth the stress and frustration anymore at this point in my life. especially when I've got more than enough, and will continue to have more than enough super promising games and novels to last my whole lifetime.

Years later I got a switch for christmas, something I wanted for all the indies, something I continue to cherish the system for. Dear god is it fun to play side scrolling games in portable mode. I probably put more time into Rayman Legends than I have with any other indie on the system, and while it wasn't as great as the best points of Origins I played....Thank god for the Shinies requirement not being so insanely steep this time!

The world sucks, my life sucks, the game industry sucks, my family sucks, but my entertainment and my dearest friends don't have to suck.

missing from this list: All hard as balls games(besides Undertale), and JRPGs(I haven't enjoyed playing a JRPG enough to completion since the PS3 Yakuza 3(Ok, not true, I loved the shit out of FF14, but that's it). Every single one of them either haven't held my attention, or I just found super annoying(and in many cases, extremely offensive.)

I think the only game on your list I may agree with is Super Mario Maker 2 - and that wouldn't go anywhere near my greatest games of all time list.

Games missing that were from the last 10 years (2011 cutoff date):
Dragon Quest XI
Octopath Traveler
Minecraft ( I guess this officially released in 2011 - I had stopped playing it by that point)
Stardew Valley
Broforce
Animal Crossing (Switch)

So far those are the only games I would include in my top 100, and I doubt any of them would make it in the top 20 (maybe Stardew)

Music levels + 8 bit levels + online challenges put Legends ahead of Origins for me but I do love Origins, too

Went through 1-3. 2 adds a LOT of stuff that I don't like, like Stealth. Plus the momentum is so dissapointing compared to the first game. 3 I don't like at all.

1 is clearly the better game. 2 has all kinds of hopping with the narrative to disguise how weak it is.

Eh, I don't think that they were trying to disguise anything. I think that they made the game they wanted to make, and it ended up pleasing most people who are into games that are big on narrative. I think you and I are actually in the minority on how we feel about the game.

Oh, and for the record I still think that it's a good game, I just don't think it's god and win like the first game.

idk, I am not big on narrative I just remember the train the most from Uncharted 2, I thought it was a great action sequence. and then the thing I remember most about the first game is... Jetskis.

The Jetskis parts were some of the best...well, parts of the game!

Uncharted 2 certainly had a lot of great moment though, that's for sure. It's also got a LOT of moments that mostly pissed more off more than anything else. I went through it once or twice, and that's enough for me. Uncharted 1 however I wanna keep playing at least once a year.

Legends includes a bunch of Origins levels, plus it has the rhythm levels and the daily/weekly challenges
