I mean, technically it could be as easy as having picture sets of yourself for purchase, so realistically you could start rn. Most rich people have bigger, more lucrative passive lines though. You probably need money to get those stated. Idk. I'm poor and live covertly in Zareth's dumpster. I'm probably not the best money advice person.

Depends what you think cush is. I'm quitting this job next year anyways.
Cushy for me would be not working six days a week, not having to get up at 5 every morning, not having to drive ~40 minutes to get to work, not working in a grocery store, and making more than ~$30,000 a year

Okay, then yes my job would be cushy to you.

In theory there is nothing wrong with my job, it's easy (for me), I'm good at it, it pays well and sometimes it's even interesting. But I don't like it.

Yeah I'm definitely planning on retiring by 50 and am in a lucky enough position to do that if things go according to plan.

That's still 20 years though... Sigh... Fingers crossed maybe mid 40s ...

In my job you can retire by 50 if you hire on at 20. 48 if you never take a day off. Job only requires 30 years for full retirement and if you save all your sick time and vacation you'll have 2 years worth saved up.

I enjoy my job for the most part. Well I wouldnt say I like doing my job but it gives me a sense of pride a lot of jobs dont give and I'm the type to take pride in any job I do. Example being when I worked burger king I refused to eat at mcdonalds cause they where the competition

And honestly I get depressed when i dont have a job. Idk if its cause I feel like a burden or because it makes my free time feel more special.

I mean a lot of people enjoy being lazy sacks of shit anf im no different. Kinda why I like my job. It's 90% walking and talking no real work. I take pride though cause its a job that has to be done. Imagine a world where we dont lock up rapists and murderers. Not all of them can be saved so we make sure they are locked away so people like you aint gotta deal with em. Majority of my unit is sex offenders qnd violent crimes. Mostly sex offenders though.

Its a weird job though. Youd think we wouldnt give a fuck about these people but last night I along with others responded to a code where a lifer in for murder was getting his shit caved in. We protected him and got his ass to the hospital cause he really needed medical attention. I sat with him for 8 hours at the hospital making sure his every need was taken care of. I even had to stay an hour and half over. 13 and a half hour shift over that and I aint bitching cause that man is likely alive only cause of us.

So yeah I take pride in my fucking job. Call me a corporate stooge all you want. I at least serve a purpose in this world.

Yep. Company loyalty is a crock. No company cares about you, they'll put on a front the whole time and talk big about how they care about their employees, but as soon as you are not economically viable, they will boot your ass out the door without shedding a tear. As someone that has been laid off like 4 times now in life, I know this fact all too well. So a random employee having "company loyalty" is just a moronic thing to fall victim to. Caring for something that couldn't give two shits about you. And for most people that so called loyalty is paper thin as well. Most people wouldn't work some place if they had wealth to begin with.

This is why I give no fucks about my companies wider happenings, they have company meetings or send out emails to talk about their growth and how well they are doing. I don't give two shits. I only care about what directly impacts my job, the functions of my job. I am merely there to do a certain set of tasks satisfactory enough to get a paycheck to pay my bills. And at this point I just expect that at some point in the future be it weeks, months or years at some point they will lay me off like so many have prior.

Basically. I love how it's a faux pas for an employee to not give two weeks notice of terminating their position but a company can do it spur if the moment and kill your livelihood. With no cares. Then they'll replace you easily. Why anyone would have loyalty to a corporation is beyond me.

Yeah, my company has been slobbing our knob about how great we've done during the pandemic and said we would be getting a gift from our department heads. I got a package in the mail and it was seriously a dollar store notepad that said "I APPRECIATE YOU" on it and a tiny thing of prepackaged kettle corn. Just keep that shit. I don't want these useless knickknacks taking up space in my house and I don't even like kettle corn.

Nothing wrong with that but it doesnt mean I shouldn't take pride in it. Excuse me if I hate seeing people who come off as entitled like the world owes them something for just existing. Cause it doesn't. Either you provide some kinda service to this world or you can take care of your self. On that note I will say I dislike how hard society makes it for one to simply take care of their self through farming hunting etc.

You dont get to sit on your ass do nothing and expect things to be handed to you though. Before "jobs" where a thing people still had to bust their ass to live.

I don't understand how people can be such corporate bootlickers. Would you really work 40 hours each week at some dumb/miserable/pointless job if you didn't have to? No fucking way you would. So why do you talk down on people who don't want to? Why does everyone have this "if I'm unhappy you have to be unhappy" attitude? You'd probably be happier not working too. If you don't think it's feasible that's one thing but to just dismiss it outright is wanting the worst for everyone

I was drunk and had had a hell of a night. As said in another comment and a point people keep conviently ignoring was id see zero issue with people not working if they had the means to survive without one and not needing a handout. And that I do feel this world makes it too hard to do as much. Being able to live off the land should be a right. But that in itself is a lot of work too.

Can't seem to quote the whole post but im responding to the last bit. I said myself I enjoy being a lazy sack of shit myself. What I hate more though is being a burden to people.

As to what is quoted here. Thats just a dumb line of thought. Before jobs where a thing people still worked their ass off to survive. Their work just simply only benefitted themselves and their family. But it was a lot more work. Surviving off hunting aint easy and farming is a lot of work.

Working a job to survive by todays standards is a far easier life than people had back before jobs where practically necessary.

Long story short if you earn your keep idc how you do it. Its those that act like everything should be handed to them on a silver platter that bugs me. Like when I havent had a job I atleast take up the bulk of the chores around the house to earn my keep so to speak.

Wow, so you're saying that people's labors to survive have become easier and more indirect over time? That sounds like a good thing, so what if... what if we continued to do that? It's not like people just hunted and gathered individually until jobs appeared. There was collective effort for people to put their talents and smarts to use, improve things, buy in to those improvements, etc. I see no reason why that couldn't continue to a point where work is eliminated or at least less back breaking, time consuming, unrewarding and so on. The thing is it requires a lot of help and buy-in from the people who have means and wealth, but ensuring the collective health and survival of humanity is a goal people should be interested in. Plus they really owe us one. I don't know how someone can look at the timelines of wage stagnation, middle class shrinkage, wealth gains of 1%ers, etc. and be mad that it's the poor people who are the ones leeching
