Will they?

I'm gonna say, in all seriousness, yes they will.

There still are working Atari 2600s that are almost 50 years old, so probably not. It depends on the console and whether or not you repair it at all. The original Xbox is a console that you need to repair. Unless you remove the clock capacitor and replace the hard drive, it's probably not gonna work in 2051.

No, the simpler units may last close to forever. Otherwise they might require repairs. However, given it's been close to 50 years for some of them so far, the idea that they'd just die is pretty fucking ignorant.

Replacing the capacitors can probably add another 15 years of life. Also if you don't overvolt or undervolt the console itself you should be good.

But some semi conductors have a terrible life span like some of the SNES PPUs

You will have to at least do some small repairs to keep them going 50+ years. Capacitors leak over time for example. I buy and sell gaming stuff and I've had a lot of consoles from Atari 2600 to current and only a few didn't work and needed repairs. Some consoles will stand the test of time better than others as well. Taking care / using precautions will help a lot in the long run. Like taking out the battery in the PSP if stored away, it can swell up pretty bad as it ages.

I still have a SMS that works once you flip the power switch on

No updates, no unreadable software errors, no wi-fi messages, no red rings of death, none of that crap

NES's on the other hand...

Yeah but don't expect it to live past 100 or so years as every piece of electronic component dies. Same with modern consoles.

I dont think it would be an issue.. the problem would be finding a tv it works with in 100 years
