Alright, I did some quests and saw O'Brian is turning into a freakish albino mutant (???) or something. He really jumped to get into that helicopter on egress, so things ain't looking too good for the NEROs. Surprised they even let him out in the field.......although seeing the type of things NERO's been studying in the field, maybe I shouldn't be.

Also killed another horde in some cave. It was a little one, so I just used a few molotovs and Chicago Chopper to cut 'em down. Should try out some of these MGs instead of snipers to see how fun they are.

Liked the game more than I thought I would.

I also found fighting the hordes more fun than I thought I would too. (Though the first horde I found got glitched out of existence when they entered a four foot radius around me, and the game counted that as a win for me)

Apparently it's not getting a sequel, so that sucks.

Beat a horde on some railroad tracks earlier by just massacring them with a machine gun. Damn fine bottleneck, that. That said, constantly having to scrape together jank for napalm 'tovs is kinda annoying, so I've been making do with attractors + regular molotovs + pipe bombs. Also unlocked a few more missions (apparently from fighting hordes?) to finish some questlines, though the resolutions aren't always that developed. Lisa goes to Lost Lake and hangs out? Maybe?

As for the sequel news, it'd be kinda cool to see another one, provided they iron out the kinks. It falls prey to "open-world fetch quest" syndrome, where 90% of the missions are kinda lame and the MC is constantly talking to himself since there's no one else around. I also got a good laugh at how MC can't swim more than three feet without drowning, especially in the last mission, where he went all the way to Wizard Island...in the water! (And don't tell me used those logs either. I won't accept it.)

Wow, I wish I'd used those motorcycle saddlebag ammo refills earlier. You can get 'em for a flat 400 credits (per use?) and it's often cheaper than spending 800 on individual refills. Hell, my Chicago Chopper with all its upgrades and ammo perks takes 600+ to refill on its own, and that's without factoring in more expensive stuff, like MG ammo.

Anyway, now that I'm confortable enough with horde stuff, I might just clear the rest out of idleness.

Hey little thing, let me light your candle
'Cause, Freaky, I'm sure horde to handle now, gets around

Looks like I've taken out about half the hordes so far. Lots of gigantic ones in the south, but as mentioned, guerilla tactics seem to work pretty well. After awhile, they give up the chance and trudge back to their stanky caves, giving some opportunities to kill more easily. It's a shame that that impassable mine cabin up here didn't do anything useful, though -- the zombies stood on the roof instead of walking by the window. =(

You mean the clothesline traps marauders set up? Or those little tiny ones tied to cans? Never ran over the latter, but the former can be vicious, unseating you and taking all the health off your ride, too. Don't think I've ever hit one that DIDN'T completely wreck it, in fact.

Oh! Congrats on completing the game, I missed checking the topic yesterday.

That twist with O'Brian is why I'm really hoping they do a sequel. There's a lot they can do with Nero as the big bads. Especially since they made their soldiers basically unkillable in this game.

I was thinking the opposite -- making NERO the anti/heroes for civilization, even though they did some dickish stuff early on, like leaving refugees to die (admittedly, they didn't have enough choppers, but could've warned them at least) and sequestering themselves somewhere. Honestly, I thought we'd find a NERO base up in the mountains at some point, but it never came to pass.

Still, not really sure how NERO could be seen as a friendly group... Maybe if the sequel had a splinter faction working with Deacon. It'd be kinda cool to exit areas in a chopper, though, just like in MGSV!

It's been kinda annoying trying to find stuff for napalm molotovs -- those are the best damn things for hordes if you can approach quietly, use an attractor, then melt 'em. Chemult College had a lot of gunpowder in it, though, so that was helpful. I think I found four Gunpowders and many Growlers for the task.

I did a horde by accident at a gas station a few days ago, but it didn't register as completing it. That's the first attempt where I realized I wasn't safe just because freaks can't climb ladders (they climb up a certain part of a wall instead). Ended up having to do that place over -- in full! -- again and finally got it. Killing freaks as they scale to the roof actually made things ten times easier.

For one of the mission hordes I got glitchy-stuck on the outside of a window frame on a building and just slowly picked them off for like an hour lol

I looked for stragglers and couldn't find any, so I just gave up. Usually you can find some growling or something, but hordes can scatter with enough time, so I guess that's what happened.

I've only seen them glitch out a little at that one gas station, where they couldn't properly climb from this pit onto the highway. Molotov fodder!

Now that I'm replaying, one thing I hated then and hate even more now is the mission naming scheme. They're just phrases from dialogue, and considering the dialogue isn't that great, most missions have stupid names. Literally a mission named "I Tried to Hit That Once" and "I'm Good With That" and "Where's My Damn Rings?". Lazy as hell. Some end up okay, like "Shadow of Death" or "Nice and Bloody," but then there's crap like "About Boozer's Arm" or "Trying to Help the Camp". Fire whoever thought up that trash.

Yeah the game has some strange issues that arent even really issues. The mission titles like you said are lazy. Also when Deacon is talking on the bike he often SCREAMS his dialogue and everyone else speaks normally. Also sometimes Deacon withholds important information from other characters and then tells them later for no reason.

Oh yeah, the loud-ass Deacon yelling. I figured it was because, on a motorcycle, it'd be hard to hear over the engine and crappy muffler, but players don't really get a lot of that, so it just ends up being an ALL-CAPS moment out of nowhere. Don't remember too many info-withholding parts, though. I think there was one I remembered about halfway through the game, but forgot it again. Pretty sure he blabbed about O'Brian pretty quickly to his friends...

The most egregious one I can remember is Obrian telling Deacon only classified people would have been evacuated. Deacon freaks out and leaves. Several missions later Deacon remembers that she was very high ranking in her field. He calls Obrian again to tell him this. Feels like there was a disconnect somewhere.

I enjoyed that mission, but died to the sudden horde when it dropped in. I had that perk that lets you see enemies in your spirit vision (or whatever it's called), so I had no one to blame but myself. Speaking of which, though, the spirit vision usage really seems to be a letdown most of the time. If a sequel ever comes around, I'd hope they leave off the Witcher/Arkham-style tracking nonsense and make spirit vision better instead.
