When I share clips of my gameplay, people say my sensitivity is too high. It's set to 3200dpi, which is what the mouse came with out of the box. I felt comfortable with it so I never messed with it.

Here's an example clip where someone mentioned my sens is too high when I shared it with them:

If you're comfortable with it, it shouldn't matter.

I want to improve obvs. I'm hardstuck Plat 3 but I can't blame my teammates for everything. If I'm missing people with hipfire sprays because of my sensitivity I need to fix it for sure.

Also I legit wanted to punch the Bloodhound, but I pulled up my fence for some reason lmao.

Would it be tied to your display resolution?

Just use what you're good at. Too fast and you miss and too slow and they hit

Sensitivity is determined by both your mouse DPI and the in-game sensitivity setting. What you want to be looking for is your "eDPI" which factors both of those in. So for example a person playing Apex on 4 sens and 1000 DPI will have the exact same sensitivity (eDPI) as a person with 2 sens and 2000 DPI.

There is no "right" setting since it comes down to preference and whether you aim with your wrist or arm. Generally the lower your sensitivity the more precise you will be when aiming, but the harder it will be to move quickly. This is why people play CS at really low eDPI but have to raise it for games like Apex.

Find the lowest eDPI you can play on without it impacting your movement. Pay attention to your crosshair when aiming and determine if you're leading the target (sens too high) or dragging behind it (too low). Technically a higher DPI and lower sens is better than vice versa but past a certain point there's no noticeable advantage to crazy high DPI settings. Most people seem to keep it around the polling rate of their mouse (~800 to 1600).

Anyone familiar with using Logitech G Hub? It's the program for my mouse. I basically want the desktop and my browser to use a different DPI than my games, like if I alt-tab, without using a button. But idk how to get it to work.

I have like, a 27 inch monitor so low sensitivity for browsing is a no-go.

dpi is relative based on resolution

You can set up different profiles for various games. And depending on the mouse model, you may be able to assign a button to switch between them.

Fun fact: Running DPI to max (like 24k) will expose a memory leak in G-hub whereby the program may lock your entire PC/BSOD you.

Just think about what the abbreviation stands for.

Dots per inch. Is your hand accurate enough for 3200 units per inch? Not even close. You're just causing jitter and unneccessary movements with such high sens.

If you really like high sens, you can still do it with lower DPI.

This is why people play CS at really low eDPI but have to raise it for games like Apex.

There's high sens and there's 3200dpi sens.

Been playing CS for 20 years, I'm at the highest rank on every platform, also in top 0.5% Valorant. I play at 400dpi, 1.75 CSGO and 0.55 Valorant.

That's 11.6inches or 30cm for 180degree turn.

Obviously, games are different and if you have to make huge turns in those games, you're out of position, but I can easily make consecutive 180degree shots when playing deathmatch.

Your hardware also plays a big role. For years I've thought that lightweight mouse are a gimmick, but they're not. Playing with 120g mouse compared to 70g feels like a whole new set of gravity rules have been applied. Mousepad also matters.

I know nothing about Apex, but your aim seems shaky there, like it's not steady. That's probably due to high DPI.

There are exceptions in every game, pros who play at ridiculous sens, but they're really rare. Check the sens range pros use and try it out. If every pro uses it, then there has to be something to it, right?

That pro-setting is too much for me as it feels dog slow even when turning from my elbow.

Sorry if I mispoke, but that's not a pro-setting, just my personal sens.
It's actually on the lower end of pro spectrum. That's 1.75 in CSGO and 0.55 in Valorant.

Most of them use 1.5 to 3 in CSGO or 0.5 to 1 in Valorant.

I turn from elbow and I guess having long arms helps. My whole forearm is on the desk, no chair arm rest bs. And I've been using big mousepads for years. 15+ inches wide is a must. And I aim diagonally if it makes sense. From bottom left to top right, not straight left to right on the mousepad. Like a windscreen wiper, lmao.

As I already said, I don't know anything about Apex or similar games, so aiming style is maybe different. Played Quake back in the day and I used a bit higher sens than in CS.
In tactical FPS games, you don't even turn 90degrees most of the time, it's all about positioning.

You didn't misspeak. But I have played at pro streamer settings before and I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to that. Shroud and people like that use 400-450 DPI and lower in-game sensitivity than I do. But they're practiced to hell and back with that slow a turn rate so it's all natural to them.

Just checked it, shroud's eDPI is 350, while mine is 220 in Valorant. As you said, years of practice.

I literally measure it and painstakingly sit there tweaking in-game sensitivity till I'm happy.

I rarely changed my settings, I'm just too used to it. Slight adjustments, but whenever I tried high eDPI, it was just uncomfortable.

I've seen people on reddit saying they use 800dpi for Apex. I am just not happy that the program seems to default dpi to 2400. So I have to change this whenever I start a new fps (not likely to happen soon imo but who knows). Rn I'm trying 1400 because my mousepad is laid vertical.

I don't change my settings, sorry. When I play a new game, I have to sit there and tweak it - as no in-game sensitivity value matches another games (I.e. I can't just use "45" in one and "45" in another).

Yeah, that's why I used inches/180. Every game has different values.
But it's more or less the same distance in every game.

I should say, Im trying 1400dpi but also increased sensitivity in game because of menuing (convenience plus you need to menu in deathboxes)
