I wasn't sure if there were any other big fans of Binding of Isaac here, but I think it might be my most played game and the probably final expansion was just released today. Adds a ton of content.

This is the absolutely final expansion, Edmund McMillen canceled all future projects he had with Nicalis (once it came out that the head of the company is a major piece of shit) except for this one because the team there had been putting so much work into it and he didnt want to screw them over just because of their boss

I played for about 2 hours and I don't think I saw any new items. Also the beginning is still such a sloooog it's hard get through those first 3 floors in a new run.

As someone who had a million % file on the switch; I went ahead and got this.

I've seen some graphical glitches in greed mode (if any unlock takes a crazy amount of runs, it's Keeper...), but otherwise it has ran and played well. Given the full shop and double treasure rooms and whatnot, I've seen a few new items in greed mode, and pretty much picked them up any time I can. So many of the balance changes are very good.

I'm open to hosting other players via remote play or helping other players by joining them in remote play... if anyone is interested.

As someone who defeated Mega Satan once, I played two rounds of Repentance last night.

First round I literally fucked around and found out: I gambled my health in a sacrifice room trying to get stuff early, then the very first room with enemies had a bunch of new flies I have never seen before that killed me on their first hit before I killed any of them. I will never be THAT bad at Repentence again.

Second run tagged me with a new spider boss about four floors in. Bombs blow up faster, secret rooms seem harder to find, and I'm still adjusting to the shape of some rooms. There is some unnecessary voice-acting added for when you pick up cards now too. Still, all feels very Isaac'y.

Unlocked Bethany and ran through it once with her, she's not bad! Her unique trick is that she can't utilize soul or black hearts as life. Instead they're like coins and keys and bombs, an inventory for them underneath the others (black hearts give 2). You can use the collected soul hearts to power your active item. So if your item has four pips and you have 8 soul hearts, you can use it twice. Active items still power up normally so you can have two filled pips and use two soul hearts to use it. If you want devil rooms, don't get hit.

Instead of the 100% devil room on the second floor, it was an angel room. Not sure if that's unique to her or just a possibility now. Got a devil room the next floor and took a new item (gives stat ups + controlled tears), but my angel room percentage never went to 0%. Never got another angel room though.

Bethany starts with the Book of Virtue, an active item that puts a glowing ball around her. The balls shoot tears along with you though I don't think they're tied to your stats. You can have quite a few balls going, circling around you like protective flies, but they can take hits and die. Not sure how many you can have going. Finished hard mode +hush +heaven +chest on my first run with her.

Found about a dozen or so new items so far but nothing incredible (okay rocket bombs were kinda neat). I appreciate that they updated some items too. (Stem Cells gives hp and shot speed instead of just hp now.)

Oh yeah, the other unique thing about the Book of Virtue is that you can't get rid of it. You can pick up other active items, which causes the Book to 'open' and the new item sits on top of it. You don't switch between them, you use them both at once.

That's still cool and all, but I am less hyped now since I put like 200 into Antibirth already.

Maybe I just suck now but damn this version is hard. I know they increased the difficulty but I feel like I can barely make it past Mom in most runs now!

I feel like previous versions of the game had a better balance of difficulty but I'm a pretty casual player (200 hours) so IDK.

Maybe I should try playing with a controller instead of keyboard? All of the streamers seem to use controllers

I'm finally diving into this after kind of burning myself out on the flash version. There's so much stuff in this game, oh my god.

I'm definitely vastly preferring the controller. You have so much more control over your movement (more directions and adjustable speed) plus it's nice being able to use either buttons or stick based on your shot type. (Stuff like Mom's Knife or any type of charge shot are absurdly easier to use with a stick.)

Working hard on getting stuff unlocked on my new file. Down to three(four?) characters to unlock, and I also just unlocked the blue baby/ blue womb, as well as Keeper.

Not losing angel/devil room chance from taking red heart damage going into curse rooms is a very welcome change. As is the ability to drain your red hearts entirely on blood donation machines, down to all empty if you have a soul heart. Eternal hearts are also not lost with blood donation machines or iv bags anymore as well, at least not before the red hearts.

The shop nerf (restock / reroll) machines are super rare anymore... Feels like I'm going to have to get my boss rush marks by actually going fast instead of getting in with Mama Mega!

I never unlocked The Forgotten when Afterbirth+ was out and honestly feel like I never will now that the game is harder

I really don't understand how to unlock tainted characters. I feel like I'm doing stuff right but the mirror isn't spawning on dark depths 2 after I kill Mom and teleport out of the room. Am I missing something there?

Follow up from yesterday, I hadn't done the requirements to unlock the new areas yet so I think I get it now.

Also I'm having way more fun with normal mode so if anyone else was feeling similarly discouraged by the new difficulty I would suggest trying out normal if you're just unlocking stuff.

As far as multiplayer goes, I would definitely recommend playing on Normal. Just a more fun time all around.

That said, I really, really enjoy hard mode.

I got through the Chest and Mega Satan on hard with Jacob. I don't think I'm ever going to get good with him.

Beat Mother with Isaac on normal. That's going to be a real bitch with the Lost, nevermind on hard.

I finally beat The Beast for the first time on hard mode with Tainted Azazel - there's so much content in this game that I feel like I've barely scratched the surface...

Nice. The last time I unlocked the forgotten on the switch, I was azazel and got the host hat in the second floor treasure room.

Last night finished unlocking the Polaroid and the Negative. So the next goals are Hush, then Delirium, then maybe I'll be ready to face the new bosses.

I did NOT platinum god Afterbirth+, nor did I play Antibirth at all. I need to not play Hard Mode for some unlocks, methinks, since I'm still missing The Keeper (but not the forgotten, strangely.)

Even with the patch softening things up, hard mode seems, uh, pretty hard.

Back when Rebirth first came out, hard mode felt around the same difficulty as the flash game while normal mode felt more like an easy mode. Now the normal game feels as hard as the flash version (if not harder) and hard mode is really tough!

Yeah the current normal mode feels like the hard mode I'm used to in the past versions. Current hard mode is very hard.

Mother keeps wrecking my shit. Last run I had shielded pee scythes and still couldn't get past the first phase. Also maybe it's just me but I find the process of building the knife to be a little monotonous. Really wish I didn't have to keep doing that every run.

I played a lot of Rebirth on the Vita and have always thought of coming back to this game. Now seems like it's a good time to get in, right?

Yeah there have been a lot of "FINAL" updates but this one does actually seem to be the last update. The amount of content has basically tripled since Rebirth and tripled might be an understatement.

Today was good. Beat Mother with Isaac and then got my first BEAST kill with Cain of all guys on an aborted alt path run, with only 1/2 a red heart left.

Seeing the entire second character select screen now is terrifying.

All on normal right now while I get my feet back under me. I hear hard is bonkers so I don't want to get deflated too fast.

There's still nothing more satisfying than managing to hit Hush, Mega Satan, and the Void in a single run. Though I do enjoy that we have more control over getting to the new end paths - I really hate how difficult opening Mega Satan's door is and I wish that was updated by this point...

You can actually guarantee the next deal room will be an angel room by completely skipping the first devil room now. It still doesn't guarantee a deal but if you DO get a deal it will 100% be an angel room. You just can't enter the devil room at all and the next one will be angel room.

Not to mention the way you can force angel fights in Sacrifice rooms if you end up with a lot of extra hearts or ways to recover them

Just had a run saved by Guppy's Collar and Satanic Bible.

Was doing Hard Mode on Samson, decided to fight Delirium instead of taking the usual, safer route. Died to the boss first time and thought that was GG. Revived, got back to 12 hearts and tried again. Managed to win(Helps that I played much safer this time....)

I'm a bit concerned regarding the Repentance bosses, but I suppose I"ll cross that bridge when I get there.

Ok, gotten my first Hush kill (with Azazel), and my first Delirium kill (with Eve). I want to mention that soul converter is extremely good now if you're intending to take devil deals, as it will turn a single soul heart (instead of taking two like before) into a full red heart container.

Guess that means I'm ready to try the new content.

Finally beat her a few runs later with Maggie. Honestly it's not too bad once you see the patterns but that first phase has some bullshit stuff.

Me: Man, these Victory Laps sure are fun. But now I'm The Lost and I haven't unlocked Holy Mantle for him yet. I guess I'll see how far I can get on one life.

Tainted Cain is so fun to play that if I didn't have so many things to unlock I would play him all the time.

Is he good? Debatable. But he's definitely fun.
