That's what people are saying online. As well as things like "black people have hated Asians for decades" But I don't buy it. I'm black and I have not met a single black person that hated Asians. I've always seen lots of hate for police and white people though.

I don't doubt that there are dumbasses out there that have bought into the Asian hate that came with covid being blamed on Asian people. But I don't buy that it's mostly black people.

No, that's an absurd statement. Most hate crimes aren't even anti-Asian.

Assuming it's talking about specifically Anti-Asian hate-crimes, it's debatable. 50% of the reported cases the perpetrator is black according to police data. Which is high considering it's coming from 13% of the population.

The issue isn't so much the statistic in of itself which is indisputable but the lack of context or thought behind it. Just saying "This is a fact!" can be misleading.

There are a ton of considerations before you get into race breakdowns exclusively , like location, income, religious belief etc.

People who just quote dry facts without thought tend to be trying to push an agenda. In this case usually "The big scary blacks are at it again!"

Sadly people of all creeds, race and nations are capable of being complete idiots. There are racists everywhere.

The thing is it isn't even that. It's actually just whataboutism. They don't try to claim they aren't racist, they simply say "other races also commit hate crimes". It's a form of deflection, not denial. When someone engages in whataboutism you know they do not care about or want to solve the issue you bring up.

It's worth noting that these "Facts and Stats!" have been around for a while but only have started coming up after the mass shootings as a deflection.

Before that the issue people brought up was "Black on black" crime as a deflection when there was mass shootings in black churches.

People don't really care about the issue, just getting us to stop talking about what they don't want to be talked about.

In this case both the mass shooting epidemic in the US and the fact the Trump Administration and Republican party are blatantly promoting racism.

From some of the statistics shared here and some other sites, black on Asian is pretty low compared to other interracial crimes. Also crimes against Asians are pretty much identical between black, white, and other asian perpetrators.

The problem with looking at hate crime statistics is that the application of hate crime laws tends to be uneven so it's never clear whether one group is more victimized or the law is applied more when they're targeted. (And, on a percentage basis, because the US's Jewish population is so tiny -- like 1-2% -- a smaller number of incidents is going to show a larger outcome.)

That said, there's probably more anti-semitism in the US than any other anti-racial sentiment since even most minorities have a lot of anti-Semites (and Voice of the Nation or whatever it's called recently had a commercial where they were trying to defend a noted black anti-Semite and the commercial looked like they were trying to handwave his anti-Semitism)
