I mean I'm sure the complaints about it are terrible, but I do think using "sus" in a translation is not a good idea in almost all cases. The problem is that it just doesn't have the widespread use among English speakers that you'd need for using this to make sense.

I do deliberately say "almost" because there is a narrow window where using it does make sense, like if you're trying to characterize the character saying it as somewhat oblivious and too absorbed in their hobbies/world/thoughts, which might be what's going on here (I didn't watch the show), but yeah. Possibly other specific scenarios I haven't thought of as well, but I would default to this not being a good idea for a translation. Like I would not use "sus" unless I had an extremely specific reason to use that over other alternatives like "suspicious" or "sketchy", off the top of my head.

The other ones seem fine and I actually really liked what they did with the sk8 one.

From what I can tell Nagatoro was basically saying suspicious in a slang accent, so ironically enough the argument there is people being upset BECAUSE of it's accuracy.

Saying sus also existed before the memes. Until it blew up I wouldn't think twice about hearing it in a cop procedural or something.

The SK8 one was apparently adlibbed by the VA. Top Pro right there.

The first time in my entire life that I heard or saw the word "sus" in any context was an Among Us Youtube video after the game blew up. But if this is some regional dialect thing where it was common in some places and I just never happened to hear it then that definitely makes it more reasonable of a translation.

Finished Inuyashiki. Ichiro was a great main character and I liked how he was such a great human being, but otherwise there wasnt any other character I liked and he got a lot less screen time in the middle of the series. The villain was pretty lame, but still a decent show overall

Watched episode 1 of Vivy

Honestly the show is solid but I can tell from my reactions that I'm just becoming much less responsive to this type of mystery story in general. In the past my kneejerk reaction to this sort of setup would have been something like "oh wow! I wonder what cool secrets this show is hiding!", but now it is something much more cynical. This is probably also related to why I wasn't able to get far into Wonder Egg Priority, but who knows.

AI stories in general are right up my alley though so hopefully I should see this one through to the end.

I try to distinguish between characters I'm attracted to and characters I admire.

He's good at what he does, well-dressed, tall, no-nonsense attitude. He probably doesn't appeal to everyone, even in-universe, but that doesn't change how he operates. As someone who has wasted too much time fruitlessly chasing the idea of being liked by as many people as possible, it's refreshing to see a fictional character not do that.

I will admit that my lukewarm feeling toward the JJK manga at the time of reading it were influenced pretty heavily by reading it right after Chainsaw Man. In particular how I felt like the art style was really generic, which...yeah, after CHAINSAW MAN sure it's more typical, but that's far from the case.

When I got to the scenes that had me putting the manga on hiatus in the anime, it wasn't even that bad. Still iffy but I probably overreacted.
