Wow, 15 years huh? That's wild considering I only played it in the last 2.

AA 6-2 The Magical Turnabout

Pretty sure there's a rather steep entry level attractiveness required to be a prosecutor in this universe.

Depressing that I just got "Mr Reus"/Mysterious after finding out about his true name, Manov Mistree. You can tell we're a few games in by how desperate the naming board has become. I always imagine they're locked in a room until they can name all these characters.

Sahdmadhi insists on being very Khurai'n and is rather judgey about Apollo & Co. I like that his floating scarf looks like it rotates. He has some Naruto hand jive going on which looks really cool. Sudden chanting appears, what could it mean?

Ema doesn't wanna testify but has to. We'll see what she says next time!

AA 6-2 The Magical Turnabout

Ema talks about how Mr Reus was going to reveal Gramarye secrets on stage, and had said as much. We claim Trucy's fingerprints were on the tape but she wears gloves to perform?? So that's weird. We suspect murder but by someone else. In a normal case, this would turn toward proving that Trucy's not guilty and being done, but this is the AA universe where instead we're gonna be extra and FIND THE 3RD PARTY KILLER because that's how to exonerate people.

We're pretty sure Mr Reus was killed understage and his body moved, but how?? The only person we have available is Trucy since Bonny was onstage the entire time. We'll get Bonny's testimony next time.

See you then!

AA 6-2 The Magical Turnabout

We reduce the noise on Bonny de Famme's testimony and boy howdy does she have some WEIRD emotions going on here. APPARENTLY there are twins: Betty and Bonny. Betty has some sass and is pretty aggressive. Bonny, on the other hand, Would Just Like Everyone To Get Along Plz.

We call them out on being unprepared for Mr Reus's fire trick, even to the point of there being a layer of DUST in the fire bucket. :\

Now to solve the mysterious mystery of stabbing the already-dead body?

Lordy.

AA 6-2 The Magical Turnabout

Initial impressions:
Roger Retinz: stage name, older brother of Manov Mistree?
Suspect the body of Mr Reus was pulled up according to prank script anyway, even if he was dead/unconscious
Suspect the same way Trucy's signature was gathered for the liability waiver is the way she 'signed' that weird memo.
Used Mr Hat to kill someone?? He was misplaced iirc

Roger Retinz IS Mr Reus, Manov Mistree was the dearly departed stand-in, who was The Prestige levels of "looks exactly like the guy from 13 years ago". That kinda took me out of it but the scar reveal was neat.

Body of Mistree was pulled up while pretending to be dead, got skewered for his troubles.

Trucy's signature was copied.

Mr Hat was misplaced so the red herring aka blood ended up on the wrong side. Reus swapped it out but Mistree's fingerprints made it suspect enough to nab Roger Retinz/Mr Reus. LOVED his ending animation, haunted by the Mr Reus character/victim Mistree. That crazy laugh will stick in my mind for a long time.

Next is AA 6-3: The Rite of Turnabout, where we return to a hapless Phoenix Wright, still stuck in the country of Khura'in.

AA 6-3: The Rite of Turnabout

Cue ball got killed. Now go home. [hiimdaisy P4 comic anyone?]

Not so fast! Maya is older and supposedly wiser [we have a number of aged-up sprites which still manage to look hilarious and adorable - Maya's a character that has really grown on me over the course of the franchise], but she's still Our Suspect. She went up a mountain to do a purification rite and uh, the High Priest got murderated.

Yes, High Priest Trust Me and his loyal disciple Praise A Lot. Or Pray Zealot. Hoping that becomes relevant, and this is AA, so, of course it will >_>

Rayfa is super pretentious and annoying, but her blushing sprite when we call her out on any ignorance is okay, I guess. Ahlbi is cute but he's around the right amount. Any more and he'd be annoying too. We poke around the crime scene. Snow has been removed, ha ha ha.

There's a variety of details to hold on to, such as it happened during the light of only a full moon and 4 wind-protected eternal lanterns that have been burning for centuries. The Lady Kee-ra robe was freshly purified with incense, too. We could smell it the next day on the fabric so its fragrance must have been quite intense the night of the murder. The victim wears giant bells on his ankles so he would have been able to track at all times, light or not. So, there's plenty of 'tells' about this case already.

We met a weird, bearded bro up in the mountains, we don't have a name on him yet, but we also know that a criminal has escaped a prison higher up the mountain than the murder scene, the last prison escape resulted in the assassination of the queen at the time, and that this current prisoner is still at large. [Now I'm sad that Pearls isn't lost instead, so I could make the Small Medium at Large joke.]

Ema's werking for Prosecutor Sahdmadhi for this case as well, he's returned to the country of Khura'in and is extremely popular. I'm ready to see the grill marks on Phoenix, lol. If the guy continues to be a character I like, maybe there's Sahdmadhi cosplay in my future!!

Boy howdy, have I missed a good, thorough, loooong investigation. At the moment, I'm still talking with Ahlbi and Rayfa in the Bazaar, but it's at least holding my interest. Looking to wrap up this part soon and head to the unforgiving Khura'inese court.

Wish me luck! See you next time!

EDIT: calling it now, Dhurke is going to be my "Oh no, he's hot" for this case lol

Enjoyed it overall, thought it picked up the pace once we had the twin reveal. It was a nice little discovery that made the entire thing pick up steam. Bonny being able to help things along in a material way was a rewarding development - would have been easy enough to let her slip into the background of the case.

Roger Retinz as Mr Reus was great. Not only was he slimy and devoid of ethics, but he was actively chipping away at the morale of our heroes. An example of how even predictable plot twists can still be very satisfying, imo.

AA 6-3: The Rite of Turnabout

Went through the first trial: Maya was found guilty of the murder of Tahrust Inmee, and according to the DC Act, that means that Phoenix will also be executed. But wait! There's more! Tahrust's been found to be a rebel, along with his disciple, Puhray Zeh'lot. Unfortunately for the disciple, he has been killed as well... out in the prayer area, stabbed in the spine in the praying position he'd held for the last couple of days.

Now we're investigating that murder and we find a near-ex-rebel whose wanted posters we've had in the Court Record. He used to wear long hair and a beard but he looks clean shaven now and has the most ridiculous eating sprite I've seen so far in the franchise.

I love Maya's new sprites. More to come.

Yes. I love this case so far, and it was a great option on vacation. Lots of 30-60 minute trips between fun locations, plus a couple flights. It added up.

AA 6-3: The Rite of Turnabout

I cried!! This was so sweet. Apparently Tahrust intentionally messed with his last moments so no one else, especially his wife Beh'leeb, would get in trouble.

The additional complication is that Puhray was the Lady Kee'ra rebel hunter. So he needed to be killed for them to be safe.

Lots of twists and turns to get there, I was entertained by Tahrust's channeling and the inability to challenge someone if you don't know their face and true name [very Death Note in a way, lol].

Looking forward to writing up 6-4. See you then!
