There were a few on my climb! It was mostly Pally and Hunter, but I think I fought a few Priests and Warlocks, not much of the mirror at all though.

I think I generally looked for Warmaul and Shield of Honor for that matchup.

for the deck (Was NoHand's, I think)

So I think people are starting to figure out the biggest cards this expansion, seems like Wandmaker, Crabrider, Mankrik, and Scorpid are in almost every deck.

That said, this expansion feels pretty balanced for the most part? I think the only changes I'd make are to Conviction and Crabrider right now. And maybe a few buffs, particularly to classes that aren't really utilizing their barrens cards (Looking at you, Druid and Shaman)

lol, there was a hearthstone inn-vitational just now with teams of popular players facing off against each other, and while they did some things right (they had a round where everyone had to include the new Nozdormu in their decks so turns were only 15 seconds long which was fun to watch) they also did some really weird things with the individual player scoring. So for the overall team score this weirdness did not have an impact. The winning team won by quite a lot.

But for the individual players they added a "frenzy" mechanic, where when a player lost a round it caused them to gain bonus points for winning the following round. (or something along those lines)

So two players went undefeated and finished in 3rd and 4th place individually because two players with a single loss ended up with my points.

They are doing some tiebreakers now, but that's just to determine 1st and 2nd between the single-losers and to determine 3rd/4th between the undefeated players.

It's so scuffed LUL

Edit: I was trying to post that^ back when the board was down. Now that it's up again, blizzard has announced that the undefeated players will ALSO be getting paid out for 1st//2nd place so they more or less fixed it. Just a pretty silly situation to begin with.

I could see using the frenzy gimmick in an invitational tournament like this, with only three rounds being played anyone who loses the first round is pretty much already done on the individual leaderboard so this system allows for more meaningful games to still be played in the second round... but implementing it in a way where people can run the table and not win was incredibly silly. I have to assume literally no one on Hearthstones side of things did the math and realized it was possible, which is both dumb and not exactly surprising.

I had a silly battlegrounds game.

Playing as Silas, get together a beast build. Not perfect, but I've got the parrot, the wolf, and the baron. Also an amalgadon with divine shield and a hydra. I made it to the final 3 with decent health, too.

Round 12: I draw the murloc player. They have Brann, and a big DS poison amalgadon taunt, and a bunch of other poison. I lose with just a 1-star on board. The other player loses to the ghost.
Round 13: I lose again, with just a 1-star on board, but his stats are growing and mine are not.
Round 14: I try to adjust, throwing a Selfless Hero into the mix. We draw.
Round 15: I sell the selfless to make room and try to perform some upgrades. I narrowly lose. There's no way I can lose again safely.
Round 16: Despite deck tracker claiming I had a 2.5% chance, I manage to win thanks to a golden selfless, golden parrot, and two poison taunts, with perfect bubbles and attack order.
Round 17: He literally has 7 poison minions on board. Despite that, my hydra is the last thing standing, and lands a cleave that eliminates his last minions standing. We draw.
Round 18: He gives up and leaves despite having 95+% in the last three rounds. Victory!

Ive been playing some classic on and off. It's only Silver, but my god some players are like BAD. I thought classic would be all boomer players but the number of zoo warlocks I see who do things like Soulfire my face on turn 2 with a card in hand or like play knife juggler last baffles me to no end.

Going to assume there was an achievement behind this, as his deck was running Sneaky Delinquent and that 3/3 rush that summons two 1/1s with taunt. Or maybe it's just silver rank three quarters of the way through the month and it's the rare player trying their own weird shit out instead of using a deck code. Either way, never seen this guy get this big before. Honestly, not sure if I've ever seen someone play this guy at all.

I've seen huge Blood Heralds, but it's a lot more common in Duels with token-focused DHs.

But you can buff a herald 14/14 in a single turn with Expendable Performers into a large board.

The current discard warlock decks are actually pretty legit in the current meta. Climbed from 7k legend to 3k legend with relative ease. The spell mage match up is difficult when they have the early flows, but a lot of the match ups are won by knowing their overall damage cap and keeping enough healing to be breathing on the other side. And every once in awhile you actually full mill yourself into neeru + rustwix stuff.

This is the current version I'm using. The Death's Head Cultists are the most flexible and if you aren't running into a lot of aggro (rogue/hunter/paladin) you can cut them for some additional draw from Free Admission or Mortal Coil. Or if you are running into a bunch of control you can use tech in Kanrtethad Ebonlocke to eventually revive your Rustwix and get an extra 3 cards back in your deck, but honestly I wasn't a fan of those versions. And I really wanted to make a version with The Dark Portal work because sometimes it's absolutely nutty if you get the discount on Ticketus or Alex, but mostly you just get the discount on a 1 drop and it feels bad. Oh and Tour Guide is mostly meant to be played either on turn 1 to give you good pacing on your card draw or as a lead in to a Jaraxxus turn to get the free 6/6 on the same turn you drop him. So if you can set up a free hero power and maybe a free Drain Soul or Siphon Soul (with Tamsin) then you can play jaraxxus in a lot more circumstances without falling behind in tempo.

And the big mental adjustment to make is you just have to be willing to burn your cards even before you have all your WinCons in hand and you just gotta pray that you never burn all you win conditions in one fell swoop. Soul Rend is such an mvp card because it's basically just 4 mana flame strike and the aggro opponents overcommit into it constantly. And yeah you might burn your Neeru, but the match ups where Soul Rend is at it's best are the ones where you are going to out value them if they are overcommitting onto the board to begin with, so you can adapt to most any card that gets burned.

I did have a single Altar of Fire burn Jaraxxus, Rustwix *and* Neeru once though. So it *can* happen.

I think I corrupt more than half the time. ticketus and Rustwix are often enough by themselves to put you ahead in fatigue. And since decks like mage have a very finite amount of damage you can and up burning 11/30 of their cards will be enough. I rejoice any time I see a mask of c'thun or fireball burned.

What I enjoy most about this deck is that you feel like you are playing with a different kind of game plan in mind.

Well so far I haven't done very well with it... I assume because I'm new to using it. But in 5 matches, 4 of them I burned Neeru and in like 2 of them I burned Jaraxxus... that feels very bad!! It feels like Control Warlock but worse sometimes... like, you're losing out on Y'shaarj and Malicia and the Strongmen and the other soul cards and Cascading Disaster for..... Neeru and the couple cards that want your deck at less than 10? Again, I think a lot of this is just from me being new to it, so I'm sure it will click at some point.

@GANON1025

here's a replay I just had vs aggro hunter:

https://hsreplay.net/replay/xSNtfgouPQFHSL3Rvy5rbE

you'll see that I took a huge chunk of damage early before stabilizing. Even after gaining 4 armor I was taken down to 9 health before beginning to swing the game back in my favor, and then at that point hunter is more or less out of gas.

And by "out of gas" i mean he still went on to do an additional 26 points of damage but I finished close to full health because that's just what this deck can do against aggro.

And sometimes you run into OTK DH but no matter how many cards of theirs you burn you NEVER burn the combo pieces and they ALWAYS get to play outcasted Skulls and get ALL the discounts on ALL the cards they need.

Which was NEVER my experience playing OTK DH.

like FFS my deck is UNIQUELY POSITIONED to create a situation where they CANT WIN.

Oh my god I just experienced the best thing in wild. Dude had me dead to rights with c'thun the shattered coming out next turn, decides to drop old yogg for kicks and giggles. He in order, among other things:
Destroys 3 of his mana crystals TWICE
Draws C'thun (aka the last card in his deck)
Destroys all minions on the field (all of which were his from a glowfly swarm) and discards his whole hand.

I don't know if I've ever seen anyone snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so hard in anything in the history of forever.
