Got through the first few Patch 5.5 MSQ quests

-Arenvald raising about a bajillion death flags

-Estinien confusing Alisaie for Alphinaud and proceeding to headpat her was beyond hilarious. WoL just standing there while watching the disaster unfold with a slightly smirk is also great.

Quickly wrapped up 5.5 MSQ -

Paglth'an was a nice romp. Having Tiamat running around was cool. Kinda random for Aymeric and Lucia to show up mid dungeon, but hey, maybe Estinien got them to tag along.

Estinien sorta formerly a Scion now. Figured it was only a matter of time since he was announced as an Endwalker Trust.

And they're either setting up Fordola to die in the second half or she's going to be a main party member in Endwalker. Leaning towards the latter right now.

Completed the big 3 of 5.5 myself!

MSQ - Only real issue here is fairly predictable? It's only half the story to be expect thay it wouldn't be crazy nutso. Pgal had good bosses but the mobs were really bland sponges, just slinging AOEs while standing still through the whole thing.

Nier - this is wierd because I don't beleive it's actually done. There's going to he some fuckery here with this weekly stuff. The raid itself was definitely solid but the story is at peak nothing, again for the moment at least. Was definitely getting a little creepy at the end and I expect that to go somewhere..

Diamond - Just excellence. The Weapon questline is absolutely the crown jewel of the Shadowbringers patch content, and I think...maybe my favorite non-MSQ questline in the whole game? Every trial is great and the story is constantly slapping.

Regarding Nier: Turns out the reason the Nier story is skimpy is because it was never a Nier story; it was a Drakengard story pretending to be a Nier story.

I still don't think it was that good, but god damn if that final boss didn't do things for me.

Regarding Weapons: I cried. I cried the least manly of tears. God... it was predictable the entire way through, but I still loved every second of it.

Oh yeah, remembered something I wanted to comment on for the MSQ:

That last scene with Zenos picking his weapon seems to pretty much confirm the speculation that the new melee job will be whatever Zenos decides to do in 6.0

Honestly surprised they're even dragging the weapon reveal out so long. I thought for sure we'd see it in that scene. And given Yoshi-P's "hints" it just seems incredibly obvious to be a scythe unless this has all been an elaborate ruse.

also that scene kicks ass, I like how they're just kind of leaning in to how inherently ridiculous Zenos is as a character. Obviously he hasn't DONE much but he fits this tone much more than the bored ruler purposely losing a very serious revolution because he just wants to play video games

Its also pretty hard to keep it during the cutscene for the last boss because of the timing and it triggering upon the last mob being killed.

God dammit felt like I could kill two birds with one stone showing my roomate the Nier Raid today, but didn't realize that I played it last night AFTER 3 AM so it's still the same day! I didn't even role anything until the end so I didn't notice until it was done.

not sure if they added a daily element to this one (haven't done it yet) but normally raid drops reset with the weekly reset on Tuesdays

People will run repeatedly to try and get specific gear drops for the class they want each week, or to win one of the cosmetic rewards at the end

Also in theory alliance raid roulette but most people use that one for leveling so idk how much of a factor it really is

Ah, yeah, I guess it makes sense if people are repeatedly running without rolling until they get that magic piece.

In the run today I started counting when it got cray, and I did 24 Veraises in that fucking thing. And that's just my 8 man! I don't even know how to target other Alliances on controller.

First Firmament fete done and... oooof. Lag city.

Got the mount, a second gaelikitten (to sell!) And a yard balloon, if I hated my neighbors.

Throwing my 2 gil into the new NieR wing: I hated healing it. It is impossible for my colorblind self to see the orange yellow danger zones on the yellow cream background everywhere. Cool end fight though, and big music squee for mixing Kaine and the main FF theme.

Oh, right, I don't know why I didn't think it might be the same thing as the regular jobs where it doesn't just show up in your quest log.

I got myself all the way down to 40k Gil buying the best crafting gear I could. Even at 70 my stats are more than good enough to actually craft anything as long as I have the materials, especially with some Blood Bouillabasse. Also looks like I can very quickly start recovering funds just selling all the HQ mats I had from the leveling process.

My first actual crafting attempt at making money...I just put 7 beds on the market, lol. Sounds like the best thing to level after Weaver is going to be Botanist in regards to Hand/Land synergy.

God I forgot how fucking awful the lag is for hunt trains after a patch

just missed an entire mark because it took me like 10 seconds to mount up after the previous one

The lag in general is brutal for me right now. Lots of delayed sound effects and areas taking in 5x longer to load in.

Yeah I don't usually get a lot of lag but its been laggy for me too.

I wonder if they screwed something up with the patch

I did one of the Restoration Fetes and it was borderline unplayable. You have to click the join fate button for some events and it would just not register. I had to to there spamming the button for like 30 seconds to a minute sometimes. It worked for me but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't for everyone. And then between fates the lag was awful and I saw so many pokeballs I thought the server was about to go down! No fucking clue why the lag got BETTER during fates either.

Also (third Nier raid spoilers) The final boss's version of Kaine's theme is so good. Unfortunately the orchestrion roll for it is currently over 1M...!

Everyone in the chat log is complaining about how bad WoW is every time I come in here.

Ironically, this place is basically that part from the end of the South Park WoW episode made reality.

I got it in two. Lot of it will probably comes down to whether you get lucky in PF, since I can imagine a lot of those groups are liable to fail Flood Ray.

No, it went away twice before because it sucked ass. This is the third iteration and they seem to have finally found a dedicated use and formula for it by tying it to The Firmament. Unless they want to overhaul that too they no longer have a reason to change it.

Yeah they originally tried Diadem as a like, complete other type of content that was kind of like a proto-Eureka/Bozja but sucked way more. Then they redid it, and it still sucked.

Then they decided to just make it gatherers only and tie it to the firmament.

Restoration of The Brume has begun in earnest!

I mean you can't really tell outside the cutscene, but still.

Will be neat when a while section of the city is just different after a quest progression. Didn't realize this was a questline that just came out in 5.5.
