Phil tried to rewrite history during his CoD stream. Said that he didn't use facecam in the past because his fans didn't want it. That's a lie since back in the day he said he didn't want to use facecam and to wear headphones because he wanted the "genuine feel" while playing games. Nothing to do with fans.

He also once said direct capture was a meme.

so, I've watched some of his videos in the past, but I never really followed DSP, but I thought I'd check out his DOS2 playthrough since it's one of my favorite games.

when watching the playthrough, it's really frustrating, because he moves at a snail's pace either due to looking at the chat to see if he has any contributions, or he explains all of the different moves he can make/reads chat to tell him what to do instead of just going for it.

plus, it's SUPER annoying when an enemy does something, and he's like, "I didn't know they could do that; shit game!"

it's like, bro, you're still in the tutorial and it's an ongoing process, you're not going to know all of the game's systems just like that.

Try another one of his streams? Ghost and Gobins might be more fun for you since I'm sure the action is happening a lot more often.

He claimed that it has been a slow month for content so far. He then guilt tripped his viewers for "making" him play Divinity 2, and thus can't play any other RPGs.

You know, Divinity 2, the viewer's choice winner from July 2020, which he is only now playing, or should I say "playing" because he is stalling so fucking hard it's unbelievable.

I rarely watch playthroughs, but whenever I check his out, no matter what kind of game he plays, it's the same thing

it just stands out even more when it's a turn-based game.

He does this all the time in games whenever he first encounters and enemy or when they later does something their AI hasn't done before. "Didn't know it could do that" "Oh wow, never seen that before!" And he usually gets mad about it, blaming the developers for shit design because the enemy didn't just use its entire movepool, a safe distance so there was no chance to hit him, the first time he encountered it. And honestly, he'd probably still complain about shit enemy AI if they did next time he encounters them because he'd forgotten.

In general what most consistently frustrates me when watching Phil is his constant need to say exactly what's happening on the screen. An enemy does a sweeping attack, he says it out loud. A car crosses the screen "woah, there was a car". It's the most childish commentary I've ever heard from a streamer (though granted I don't watch that many). It has no remotely analytical content, it assumes his audience are dumb and can't watch the screen and it just sounds like he lacks the ability to internalize visual experiences and can't think without saying things out loud. And he often concludes the shit sandwich by starring directly at the camera as if his experience just now was somehow weird or unconventional. No, Phil, it was just the first enemy in Crash Bandicoot 3 using its only attack.

There was a clip on the Reddit of him failing to see a bat in the Switch Ghost n' Goblins game, which appeared on the right side of the screen and flew towards him for like 3-4 seconds. He literally exclaimed "It came out of nowhere!" as it ran into him and he died.

maybe I'm giving him too much credit, but maybe he's doing it for viewers who are blind/hard of seeing.

iirc, I heard the one YouTuber who's known for being a blind gamer is a fan of him...or maybe it's just DSP saying the dude is a fan.
