It happens. We just had a murder at my apartment complex; I can see the crime scene from my window(this was months ago). It was in the courtyard.

This is actually a really nice part of town and a nice neighborhood, which is why it was so weird. There were two other sets of gunshots around the same time so were guessing they were related since they stopped.

This happened to me at the end of last year. They shot at the house across the street. I mentioned it in a topic, but no one cared >_>. I assumed no one believed me. The cops came to my house and questioned me but I didn't have any good information. It was exactly like what happened here. It's all said and done once you build up the courage to look.

I also might of mentioned it to Catboy in discord. But he didn't really show any interest either lol

This is how the urban decay death spiral begins.
Crime leads to the people most able to afford leaving, to do so. Less liquid wealth and revenues in the area leads to more crime, which leads to next most well-off leaving, which leaves behind less liquid cash and revenue.

I actually just thought about how it probably drove the price of my house down. Someone also set these same people's car on fire in the middle of the night. By the time I took my VR off and noticed, it was just a gigantic ball of fire that I couldn't even tell a car was under. I got super anxious about calling the cops so I just waited until I heard sirens so that I wouldn't have to >_>. If it wouldn't of happened for a full couple minutes, I probably would of called. I just get nervous and start fumbling words on phone calls when I fet anxiety. And it's hard to focus on giving addresses and information. I feel like Im gonna make an error that makes everything worse.

She should've ducked immediately instead of going for the cat, those few seconds could have been costly.

Can you tell me how to prioritize my loved ones in situations you will never have to face yourself next? Make sure to factor in the guilt I might feel for not doing it if they did die due to me abandoning them for my own safety. I trust you will properly gauge how I process guilt. /s

Yes, it's an animal. But I really hope you don't think this girl dumb for instinctively protecting those she loves instead of immediately cowering and abandoning them. Because nothing happened, she gets to walk away knowing she's not someone who selfishly abandons their pet in an emergency.

How?
By the time she figured out what was going on, she'd already be dead had any bullets headed her way.

I wouldn't hold it against you. Just don't tell others how they should prioritize. Coincidentally enough I know how Id react in this exact situation, and it's exactly the same as her. I just live with my dog and my instinct was to get him away from the window. Like other dude said, the damage would of already been done anyway. You're really just hiding to collect yourself and work out what just happened. It's a safety measure at that point. You just don't realize it until you gather your thoughts.

I once lived in an area where if there gunshots you took comfort in knowing it's just people hunting. The crime rate was very low. The trade off is that sometimes you saw full grown bears in the backyard.

I'll take a bullet over a bear. A bullet usually misses and...a bear usually runs? But if I get hit with one, I'll take the bullet over the bear.

The drive-by outside my house was like 4 days before New Years. Logically I didn't expect lightning to strike twice so soon, but there was a lot of moments it crossed my mind that there could be bullets. Thankfully logic dominates over emotion on my head these days. Not reality logic. But the logic of my own personification.

I lived in a really bad neighborhood the first 5 years of my life and there were always drive-bys. I remember my mom peaking out the curtains then frantically corralling us all into the bathroom in the back of the house right before the people across the street had their house shot up. I talked to her about that a few years ago and asked her if anyone was killed then and she said no but two people down the street had been killed during a later one and that was a big contributor to us moving out of the area.

We moved to another not so great community without any drive-bys but tons of other problems, so she worked her ass off to get us into a somewhat decent community. The first month we lived there, the people across the street had their house shot up in a drive by.

My mom was working so hard to provide a safe environment for us and overcame a lot to try and make that happen. I'd rarely seen her so demoralized as she was standing on the porch, watching the police talk to the people whose house was hit.

Seen two people killed in my life.

Most recent was like back in 2011.

I could hear two guys arguing at the house behind mine and never payed it no mind.

Was messing around here on GameFAQs next to a opened window.

After awhile I hear "pop pop".

It was loud and I could actually feel the air change or vibrations from it.

Seen where he had used a Desert Eagle.

First time I was a kid and the dude was shot inside of a car.

He wondered off between two houses and died hiding in some tree like area.

There is a wooded area next to my neighborhood and you hear people applying heat all the time.

Though it's in the city limits the cops don't seem to care.
