Just gonna doodle and draw every night and post it in this topic. I heard by drawing constantly you improve, so I will start drawing and hopefully keep track of any progress I make. By making this topic I hope to keep myself motivated to do this. Anyways heres a first picture I drew a while ago. Keep in mind this was using a reference so my future pictures might not resemble this. Or they will, I dont know how progress is measured.

Yeah I need to practice. I'm just scared of making mistakes and having to erase them.

This should motivate you! I suck anyway so that should make you feel better.

Shes based off an idol but now that I think about it, a lot of girls I like have that kind of hairstyle.

Drawings are looking good. Keep up with your art and keep putting drawings out. The only way to improve is to draw your ass off.

Anyone can draw

Its like learning to play an instrument

Sure some people just pick it up and go but its all about repetition

Going back to basics is always good. I've got some resources on art fundamentals if you want 'em. Just @ me or something.

https://drawabox.com/lesson/1
This is the main resource I used to teach myself the basics. Lesson 1 I consider essential to all aspiring artists. Lesson 2 is good too, but it's a significant jump in difficulty and I feel there should have been another lesson between 1 and 2. At the very least, attempt but don't fuss too hard about the texture lesson. It's borderline impossible to do well without more lessons in light and shadow, which the lesson plan skipped entirely. I didn't pursue anything beyond that. I don't encourage paying for it. Having your "homework" graded can be done just by comparing your worksheets with other students and reading what he said about them.

Keep in mind drawabox isn't fun, but it is damn effective. Take breaks between chapters to do fun things or you'll probably burn out.

After that you'll want to learn from artists who do what you want to do. If realistic portraits are your main concern I would look into a Youtuber called Proko. If you want something more cartoonish or anime-like, Akihiko Yoshitomi has some excellent tutorials. I don't currently have resources for backgrounds or object drawing. I'll need to find them soon, but my current focus is animation.

One short piece of advice that was given to me...

Learn realistic anatomy first and then work on deforming natural shapes for more cartoon or anime like proportions because learning odd proportions first can actually set you back in the long run

Havent been drawing much. Been following and reading on drawabox. I'm also watching the YouTube videos and so far I'm loving it. Very in depth and explains a lot. I'm also happy I made this topic because its keeping me in check on doing at least an hour dedicated to drawing or learning how to draw every night. Anyway heres my latest picture from before.
