It's honestly one of the best modern documentaries I've seen of a punk band going from being broke and throwing backyard parties/shows to eventually self-publishing, touring, selling out venues, etc. It's about 1 hr. and 40 min.

https://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/oct/9/sex-pistols-singer-john-lydon-of-course-im-voting-/

John Lydon, the rock singer who found infamy fronting the Sex Pistols during the iconic punk bands heyday, is of course voting to reelect President Trump, he said in an interview Thursday.

The vocalist previously known professionally as Johnny Rotten told BBCs NewsDay he is definitely voting Republican in next months contest between Mr. Trump and Democratic rival Joseph R. Biden.

Hes an individual thinker, Ill give him that for a start. Hes not the most lovable fellow on Gods earth, but I cannot see the opposition as offering me anything by way of a solution, he said.

Yes, of course Im voting for Trump, Mr. Lydon affirmed later in the interview. Its bad person or not. I dont want a politician running this world anymore.

Mr. Lydon, 64, led the Sex Pistols in the late 1970s when the British punk group made waves because of its songs like Anarchy in the U.K. and the anti-authoritarian anthem God Save the Queen.

He later formed the group Public Image Ltd., which he still fronts, although he told NewsDay the coronavirus pandemic is having a crippling effect on the band and music industry as a whole.

Mr. Lydons remark about casting a ballot to reelect the president clashes quite considerably with his earlier comments. Dont you dare vote Donald Trump, he said during a TV appearance in 2015.

The legendary punk singer was later photographed in 2018 wearing a shirt containing Mr. Trumps campaign slogan, Make America Great Again, and that image was widely circulated online last month...

https://variety.com/2020/music/news/grateful-dead-heads-trump-supporters-1234821260/

On the lawn of Jeff Whritenours house in Kinnelon, New Jersey, a sign reads, Presidents are temporary, the Grateful Dead is forever. A few feet away, a flag bearing the iconography of the Grateful Dead flies above a Trump 2020 banner. Passersby often pause for a double-take, no doubt questioning what many would perceive as conflicting messages. After all, the Dead were liberal, pot-smoking hippies of the San Francisco counterculture; musicians inspired by the LSD experience of the 1960s and the Beat Generation. These attributes arent what naturally comes to mind when thinking of Donald Trumps supporters but Whritenour doesnt see it that way.

Im not a big fan of the president, but at the end of the day, Trump is about individual freedom and so was the Dead, says the insurance claims consultant. His take, along with that of an unknown number of Trump-supporting Deadheads, is that the Grateful Deads philosophy was about individual liberties and not telling people what to do...
