I was on there just a few hours ago (not a regular browser, just wanted to breathe in the chaos) and there were a ton of threads screaming about new users either A. Ruining the original community's plans and/or reputation or B. Putting themselves and others at risk for legit market manipulation discussion, so I'm not terribly surprised to see it boarded up now.

It's working now so it doesn't look like it was banned. Sounds like whatever they did, they did it themselves/it was temporary, to try and deal with the influx of users/trolls/etc.
