Destruction All-Stars - Delayed PS5 launch game because they realized no one was going to buy a car combat/on foot multiplayer team shooter for $70

Control - One of the best games of 2019. Reminded me a lot of watching the X-Files, but in a video game format? Has strong ties to Alan Wake in its DLC and really put Remedy back on the map after they lost it with Quantum Break

Concrete Genie - Jet Set Radio minus the skates and about overcoming getting bullied.

I've never had PS+ before, largely because I've never had a Sony console during its lifetime until now. Can someone please explain to me how these free games work? Do you only get them for the month, or do you get to keep them forever? Until you cancel your subscription?

You keep them as long as you have PS+. If you cancel and then resubscribe you get them again. You have to claim them to add them to your account, but you don't have to download them if you don't want to play them right now.

I have very mixed feelings on Control being here. I'm still mad at them because I bought Control a week before they announced the ultimate version is coming and there won't be a free upgrade for it. So now here it is for "free" but I still dunno if I'm ready to play it.

How is Concrete Genie? Is it something I can play around small children without having to worry about them hearing words theyll repeat elsewhere?

Within 5 minutes of loading up the game the genie comes out of the concrete and is like "Fuck my stony asshole it's great to be free once more!"

so... I'm blaming you board 8 (tentatively)

I've played maybe an hour of this and I dig the general idea/aesthetic of it but I also think this might be the most boring beginning to a video game I've ever played. the talking gun thing was kind of funny but other than that this is like a black hole of personality. who is this girl? why should I care about her? the idea of a 3rd person shooter set entirely inside an office building is a hard sell for me unless this game introduces a unique mechanic soon (I saw "levitate" in the control options, so maybe that'll be lead to some wacky gravity rush inspired antics).

I'll probably play this for another hour or two more, but unless there's a significant reveal about this main character by then I'll dropping it

focus more on the building and what's in it instead of the main character

the characters are mostly fine, but the reason the game is good is not the characters. it's the setting and the mystery of it.

My two big complaints after about 4 hours with Control are that the map mostly sucks and the combat went from kinda frustrating to ridiculously easy as soon you start getting powers/more guns. There was no gradual skill curve it just went from hard to easy like a switch got flipped.

I liked it fine on the whole though. It's just nothing groundbreaking or amazing to me.

But the dark soulsy gameplay progression is great too. More than the sum of its parts.
