also the only thing I actually know about the series is that the first game to get released in english (which was the 6th already at that point) on the PS2 had a giant slime in it

They're solid RPGs with nice low stakes. Good character interactions and relaxing stories. Rorona Plus is a good one to start with. The Mana Khemia games (which are sorta spinoffs), are real good too.

Do the games still have a time limit on the quest? I remember that being an issue with the earlier games (according to reviews).

I really enjoyed Atelier Iris and have played a couple of these since then. They've gone too far into anime girl game I think for me. Which is too bad because I want to like them.

I'm not sure who this MI guy is but he sounds sexy.

I've played 6 Atelier games and having too generous a time limit is the worse part.

I find it strange that people complain about time limits in these but not in Persona.

In my defense, I don't play Persona, either.

There are no time limits in the recent Atelier games.

The series has always been like this from the beginning, but the first five games that were like that were never released overseas. The Iris trilogy was a shift towards a traditional JRPG more than the other games.

azuarc may not know the strength of songs in VGMC, but he conquered the guru in Game of the Decade 2! Congrats!

No it has been a long time since the series has had time limits.

And the time limits in Atelier are so lenient they might as well not even be there honestly.

That's not a good defense, either

I did try to get into the first one after Clemps' excellent video, but unfortunately I couldn't make it past the 10 hourish mark before losing interest.

I don't need world ending stakes, but I need something.

Then play Ayesha! The game has strong plot impetus established very early in the game
