The DQ game uses monsters? Not gumi is a plus too.
I got nothing on the touhou one.

I actually like a lot of the added characters more than a lot of the originals! But then I started with the game and have yet to dive in on the original.

And now they just added 3 more characters that are mainly known from the stage plays. So it's like only the people who really followed Revue Starlight closely were hyped for them.

As for this topic, I know Disgaea RPG had such a bad launch in Japan, that they had to pull the game down for some time to fix it up. I don't know too much about it other than it being a turn-based RPG and not an SRPG.

In the mean time you could give Princess Connect a try as it's only been out for a week. It's an auto-battler with really high production qualities.

DQ Tact seems very ok. Nothing wrong with it but I think it just makes me want to play Dragon Warrior Monsters or FEH instead. (and FEH makes me want to play Langrisser Mobile instead) Cute but nothing about the gameplay has gotten my attention, so that is likely one down.

played a bit of DQ Tact and i agree with "very ok." DQM games just get the monster stuff better and Langrisser is by far better in strategy compared to what feels like a watered down FEH after about 2 hours play. the biggest thing it has going for it is the banner lets you re-roll infinite amounts of time the first go-around but uh... honestly, i'm just not feeling it. seems like it's only really meant for hardcore fans of the series. quick check on the reddit also suggests that F2P is gonna have some grinding to do which.... eh.

last gacha game crunchyroll had control of was Danmachi.
they removed features, censored the game, and had many changes in the model to nickel and time people even more. thing most notorious of it was how they changed certain banners that used in-game currency (e.g., step up banners) and made them into paid banners instead. it got so bad that eventually the company in charge of Danmachi kicked 'em off, took control, and unfucked the game as much as they could.

Cygames supposedly is holding them to a tighter standard. but i don't trust crunchy. if they haven't fucked the game up in a year i'll probably give it a go but i've got no good will to that company.

They've had more than that. They play a big part in Grand Summoners, but people have been upset at how money grabbing it's become, but I don't know if that's on Crunchyroll or because the devs have just gotten more greedy.

But Crunchy has this bad reputation of heavily promoting a game and then just dropping it, so I get people don't want to deal with them.

My willingness to try Priconne is more because I've been hearing about this game for the past few years.

DQ tact update:

Yeah I can't see myself playing this with any frequency at all. Unlocked all the stuff for beginners and it's just not holding any interest. The gameplay isn't compelling, the story obviously isn't, it's just an okay time passer.

i'd accept the lack of waifus if there were more DQM mechanics involved, like if i could breed my monsters up the scale. but at that point i'm probably playing the SMT gacha, just with dragon quest.

Exactly. I wanted DQM but an SRPG, and I guess I got it but the whole is less than the sum of its watered down parts.

they did start adding human characters to DQ Tact in Japan after a while. Nera is considered top tier, and the other two wives arent far behind
